Audio system switches to FM on startup, randomly...

My 2021 is being strange. I listen to a USB stick full of music. My source is on USB 100% of the time. However when I start after a few days of sitting parked my source sometimes will be on FM. Now I NEVER listen to FM, so how the hell does it switch to FM, randomly? 8 times out of 10 it’ll be on USB like I left it when shutting down, but sometimes it decides to switch to FM.

Any idea what this can be? Thanks.

if the vehicle has sat for a long period of time the whole system will go to sleep, i t may not store what source it was on after a very long period of sleep...plus the system has to wake up and then communicate with the usb stick....i would suggest uploading it directly to the system.

Thanks. Maybe this is whats happening. I’ll pay attention to how long it goes between starts to see if there is a correlation. But I’m only talking days, not weeks.

Anyway, can you elaborate on your statement “uploading it directly to the system”? Do you mean I can copy gigs of mp3’s to internal memory?

you should be able to copy to internal memory...i haven't had too many 21's yet at my shop long enough to play around with...i do know that the uconnect system now in the 21's is super fast at boot up, which to me would suggest that it doesn't have enough time to pull up the info from the usb stick

That is a bug if it does that. There is no reason the last media source plays every time when you start the vehicle. This happens to me even if the truck sits over night or even < 5 hours.
Uconnect needs to drop some sleeps in the boot process or prioritize which media service gets look at first. It does suck when you listen to SiriusXM or USB music but the next time you get in and start up the truck you get blasted with white noise from the AM media source.

Also there is no way to upload files to the unit at least with the current firmware version.

I think there is some setting in the Uconnect to have it start at either the last source, or at the radio every time....
