I assume that one could replace the exhaust on an 2018-2020 R/T with the exhaust from the 2021 Tow N Go R/T. Anyone looked into this yet?

So leaving suitcase in and just doing the rear resonators or leaving the resonators with an x pipe, I can't decide. No drone with the blasting bobs?Personally I found my 2019 R/T too quiet when stock - I enjoy the sound of a nice V8 engine, within reason anyways. Then again my last vehicles with V8's were both Challengers, an R/T then a Scat Pack with the active exhaust.
Reasonably quiet during cruise, loud under throttle & no drone (MDS off) is what I wanted. A Blastin Bob's Magnaflow glasspack resonator replacement worked for me, for the money was hard to beat. Just wasn't willing to throw a ton of money at it for a full exhaust replacement, this was $350 shipped. It's quieter than my Scat Pack was for what it's worth, especially on a cold start. I'm sure my neighbors hated that one!
I thought the same thing. My exhaust shop actually told me the mid suitcase is the resonator and the back are mufflers. doesn't really matter I suppose but my plan is to replace the mid with an X pipe and vibrant 1792's, then replace the rears with Carven R series. I found one guy that did it and in the video at least, it sounds good but who knows what that means lol.So leaving suitcase in and just doing the rear resonators or leaving the resonators with an x pipe, I can't decide. Looks great, you will have to update us on drone, sounds good on the video. What xpipe is everyone using, there are multiple styles I have seen? Some sort of stamped center vs mandrel bent pipes.I thought the same thing. I'm dong my son's r/t with that this weekend and then we'll at least know what the result of this will be. the 4 "mufllers" were $300 and I figure another $300 between the x pipe, labor, and black tips so if I'm all in for $600 but it sounds good, it's less than half a MPE or corsa cat back..... unless it's annoying/drone or too obnoxious but I'm optimistic as I'm not going straight pipe...
I have seen a few that just replaced the rears with Vibrant's and it seemed to sound good... who knows, it's so hard to figure all this out without trial and error or hearing it live in person...
let me see if I can find that video of the setup I'm attempting.. would love all your thoughts:
Not on mine, with the caveat I always have eco mode off so no MDS. This is with the DMF250-b, 2.5" Magnaflow glasspack. No drone with the blasting bobs?
No idea , I’ll find out and take pics SaturdayLooks great, you will have to update us on drone, sounds good on the video. What xpipe is everyone using, there are multiple styles I have seen? Some sort of stamped center vs mandrel bent pipes.
It’s basically an SRT exhaust...I assume that one could replace the exhaust on an 2018-2020 R/T with the exhaust from the 2021 Tow N Go R/T. Anyone looked into this yet?

Yes. Let us know how it goes and sounds. I've also thought about replacing the suitcase with an x-pipe and the Vibrant 1792s, but leaving the rest of the exhaust stock.![]()
Let’s goooo

My guess is that it is very similar to the SRT exhaust, but I expect there are some differences given the SRT engine is a 6.4 rather than a 5.7.It’s basically an SRT exhaust...
here you go, it's all here with a sound clip:Yes. Let us know how it goes and sounds. I've also thought about replacing the suitcase with an x-pipe and the Vibrant 1792s, but leaving the rest of the exhaust stock.
Yes I don't know if to do that or the reverse and leave the mid and replace the axel back... hard to know what's better lol.... but yes I think what I did for my son is a little too loud for me and my situation so maybe half of that would be perfect, just not sure which half LOLYes. LOL! Me either. That's why I was also interested in the Town N Go exhaust. It sounds good. If you could buy it for a resonable price, less than a catback, then it might be worth doing.Yes I don't know if to do that or the reverse and leave the mid and replace the axel back... hard to know what's better lol.... but yes I think what I did for my son is a little too loud for me and my situation so maybe half of that would be perfect, just not sure which half LOL
If you have a moment look at that other thread... I was also contemplating a cat back to ensure no drone and not too loud like the Corsa or Mopar but trying not to spend $1500+ lol
well at least others are in the same boat as me I feel better now. I don't think you can buy the T&G exhaust... I'm going to do something, just not sure what yetLOL! Me either. I don't think it would be cost effective. The standard RT exhaust is $1500, and I'm sure the T n G will be more. You have alot of choices for that amount.I assume that one could replace the exhaust on an 2018-2020 R/T with the exhaust from the 2021 Tow N Go R/T. Anyone looked into this yet?

It probably won't be cost effective. However, I would still like to know what's different about the Tow N Go exhaust. It could be just the back half of the exhaust that's different.I don't think it would be cost effective. The standard RT exhaust is $1500, and I'm sure the T n G will be more. That's what I'm trying to figure out too.... so I can replicate it somehow LOL.... how much different is it than the Mopar performance exhaust? there are only 3 components lol... resonator, piping (x pipe etc), and mufflers...It probably won't be cost effective. ok Don, you're killing me and just ruined my weekend LOL..... all kidding aside, it sounds perfect, like one of my scat packs that I left stock, it just sounded perfect in every way. Unfortunately not all of us got he T&G... since you sound very experienced in this particular realm, what be your suggestion of the next best options? I don't want obnoxious loud or drone, at this point I think I might just replace the rear resonators with some vibrant 1790's and call it day and hope for the best lol. I was considering the mopar performance exhaust but even that might be too loud and it's expensive for an unknown result. you said a friend has the MPE, did it not sound good? was it nothing at all like the T&G sounds? The sound? The volume? Frankly, from my (and wife's) experience of now 500 miles with our '21 T&G, we've become accustomed to the exhaust note and volume—it's as normal to us as the house furnace or water heater firing up—it's white noise, you don't notice until you want to notice. However at startup, idle at the mailhut, or deep pedal pushes off the line, the sound and volume is signature Dodge muscle; unique, visceral, and fun. There is no duplicate to this note—not Borla, Blastin Bob's, Mopar's exhaust option, mid muff delete, cat-back, etc. Dodge engineering did a nice job taking the SRT 6.4 exhaust and retuning it for the 5.7 output. The factory intake, timing, firing, and trans point mapping have been coordinated well to properly port the exhaust pulse through the entirety of the pipes. A soup to nuts build—and IMO, they've nailed it. As for 3rd party exhaust, mid muff delete, even the Mopar exhaust option (a friend has it on a 2018 RT) there's nothing wrong with those, but there's something missing in the final note. To each, their own (ear) 😂 One additional experience that may help to differentiate the normal Durango 5.7 RT exhaust v. T&G exhaust sound. My interior cabin ear has the 2018 RT' V8 "rasp" (especially in sport mode) coming from the floor, just above the exhaust suitcase. For the RT T&G, it's a V8 "growl" at the cabin's rear, leaving those large tips. That said, we haven't slapped on the RV, and as some have already pointed out, we expect to hear a bigger bang echoing off the trailer when throttling up the IKE for 8 minutes. We'll manage I'm sure, testing out the "retuned SRT noise cancelation system"—yah, that's a feature on the T&G, whatever the hell that is 😆. I'm sure the RT T&G is not for everyone—but it is for us until we're pressed to buy the eco-unicorn producing ungodly torques with the sound of an ant-farting. For those considering the RT T&G, thankfully there's more feedback coming here and on YouTube to help. Cheers.
Yes, spot-on experience...said (written) better and more succinctly than me. Trying to duplicate the factory T&G note is like the T&G exhaust mimicking the Mopar exhaust. Neither is quite there, not perfect. There are two engineering teams, SRT and Mopar, and for the exhausts they built, each hit their design goals. As I've learned through my friend's experience with his 2018 RT, the Mopar exhaust flows freer (also with Hemi hat and airbox out, replaced with K&N cold air set-up) and carries with it a more raspy tone than the '21 T&G (SRT) exhaust (my ear). It also has more volume in-cabin under load...but like the T&G...no drone during cruising. Both T&G and Mopar exhaust do reflect the in-house engineering expertise of the 5.7 and 6.4. That's what is being paid for, as the sound note of each is a byproduct of performance tuning to have the exhaust pulse discharge the waste for max efficiency and power—it's the concert of tuning from intake to outflow. Stepping in just to produce a wanted sound...cutting out the suitcase, cat-back, straight pipe, etc...can disrupt the original design's intended experience and performance. That's neither good nor bad, it's just a choice. BTW, here is an example that comes damn close to the Mopar sound of my friend's RT. Cheers 👋.... all kidding aside, it sounds perfect, like one of my scat packs that I left stock, it just sounded perfect in every way.
