OK, I'll start my first post here by ordering a set of PPH headers. I'm a proud original owner of a 2001 Durango R/T with 80,000 current miles. Been a great car since new, and now it's time to get it running a little faster with PPH headers and a Fastman TB. Currently running great with just a K&N FIPK and Superchips programmer. I found this forum a few months ago, and have learned a lot of things about Durangos. Great forum.

I want to do this but I have some questions. Perhaps someone can help. They're in bold below.

I commited to the 2.5" exhaust by just recently purchasing and installing the 2.5" diam Magnaflow 24" muffler. Do I need some kind of 3" to 2.5" converter from the end of the Y pipe to the exhaust just before the cat?

Just wanting to confirm, this is all DIY except for the welding the Y pipe to the exhaust?

The other is cost. I know this sounds trivial, but are they $525 or $595 before shipping? Can someone make a single call on everyone's behalf so they don't get multipel calls?

Thanks for everyone's help.

The Y has a bolt on adapter at the end that's welded to the front of your OE converter, or ANY converter for that matter. So it already has one really. You assume correctly, it's a custom fit OE looking setup that doesn't require additional pipes. The adapter will easily fit any pipe. The exhaust guys just welded mine up and it rocks. Make sure they get enough weld on the top of the pipe with that adapter. It's a tight squeeze.

I dunno the final cost, but mine ran $1000. Wish someone had done a group buy back then! :wall: :wall:

You can crawl under the D in TN at the DOCSMR, and look if ya want!

Grease you are coming to the Smokies?

Yes you can DIY if you want to tackle them yourself. Many here have. I paid the stealer about $250 for the install.

Again, the price will be based on steel costs at the time of order. $599 was the first round price a year ago. This round should be +/- $100.

I wish we could. Ironically, we're already here -- just a week early. The kids' spring break is this week, not next. We come down every spring break to get the boat out of in-laws' free storage. They live NE of Knoxville and I could have driven to the event in an hour (depending on traffic).

We're in the area at least three times a year -- especially around holidays, so perhaps the next one will coincide.

We actually got out on the water on Tuesday with 80F weather. Tonight it's supposed to get into the 20's.

I'd be getting there tonight or early tommorow normally but my father in law is sick so we're only going to be down WEDS Thru Weekend

I'll suggest that you order the solid copper or solid aluminum 3" 3 bolt flang gasket, as the convertor heat can burn the sandwich gaskets out. Of course that might only come into play if you pull the Y-pipe as often as I do for tranny service.

so the headers block the tranny? time to service the tranny before I put it in then :p

The Y-pipe fits very close to the tranny pan. That's why Greg had all the problems with the deeper tranny pan fitting his D.

the dealer had to drop the Y pipe on mine to service my tranny the last time. no big deal, but something to know about.

when we get a little closer, I'll call for a final price. I can send an email now, but I'll probably be in TN by the time I get a response and it won't matter ubtil I have 15 orders or at least 14 of them?

I'm going to have to pull m name off for now since personal issues has come up, some things in life is more important then the D right now.

Hopefull this will still be around in the begining of next month then everything should be back to normal in my life.sorry guys but don't worry I'll sign back up again I really want these headers.
