Just learned the R/T is NOT CPO, just pre owned, can't sell as new because there was "damage in transit". Dealer said the front bumper was damaged and repaired, cosmetic only.

Nevertheless, I didn't see that one coming and it made me think twice before buying. With just 39 miles on it was never sold to a customer. They've come down to $34,500 sale price + TTL. MSRP is 42k. They seem pretty set at this price, but with the fact it's not CPO and it had some repair, I should have some more bargaining power left, no?

As long as the Carfax is clean and you get the full warrantee I would jump on it.

That's an amazing price. I agree with he above poster, if the CARFAX is clean then buyers away. Also protect yourself with the Lifetime extended warranty from FCA for an additional 2k

After communicating via phone and email on Sunday and Monday, I eft work early (4p) on Monday and drove across Phoenix, 30 miles in rush hour traffic only to be told it was sold 10 minutes before I arrived. The guy was in plain sight signing the docs. To say that I was upset is an understatement. Customer service is dead.

Then I had to drive back in said rush hour, sans R/T. Must not have been meant to be... At least that's what I'm telling myself between sobs and the whiskey.

If it ain't meant to be it ain't meant to be. Take one more shot of whiskey, then get back to lookin! That really should have been a CPO vehicle, especially since mine was with 55k and 3, almost 4, years on it. If they came that far down on the price for "cosmetic only" damage there's something they ain't tellin you.

I agree ask to see work orders on what was done. If they produce it fine, if not it wasnt meant to be

After several test drives in the R/T followed by the V6, the V8 rumble is unforgettable, like a drug. As much as I'd love to tell myself the V6 is enough (and I'm sure it is for my needs), I fear I'd regret the decision every day.

Moral: Don't even test drive the R/T :)

The search goes on. The only real upgrade to the '16 R/T from what I can see is the Sport mode button. Not worth waiting for IMO.

Agreed on the Hemi. I had no plans on a V8 until I drove the stupid thing. Now I simply must have it.

The existing R/T inventory is worthless for me. Nothing is configured close to the way I want it. 2016 is my only option.

The start stop on the 2016 will be unique and save more gas but I am not a fan of those systems, one malfunction and your in a dangerous situation.
Its also Dodges first attempt at this so it may have bugs

Exactly why I'm avoiding the '16 V6. Too risky and not worth the 1-2mpg increase.

RedHotFuzz since it's software wouldn't Dodge extend/allow pre'16 Durango owners to update their systems as well? Maybe not that simple then again that's the beauty and intention of software releases.

The start/stop system I believe is a ZF option on the 8HP so I think the hardware will work as promised. More so I would want to know who is responsible for the software...ZF? or Chrysler?

One would think it possible but in reality automakers very rarely allow these types of software updates for previous-year vehicles. Hurts the sales pitch for buying a new one.

Ironically enough I happened upon a Facebook post talking about a MyFordTouch update. Looked into it ford released an update to all gen 2 MFT vehicles (2011 and newer) that includes Siri Eyes Free. So I updated both our Fords and voila - that feature is damn handy! May have sold me to order a '16 DD instead of getting of 15.

First I believe in Early 16 they are switching all 8 speeds to Chrysler 8 speeds. With Start stop the engine actually shuts off. So that isnt a function of the 8 speed.
Even up till now the ZF was only used in the V8's
Chrysler has made there own version for the V8 as well, SRT 8's will continue to get the genuine ZF Trans

Steve, I believe while not coming from the zf plant in Germany all of Chryslers zf trannys are made under license of zf. They made all of the trannys for the v8's etc in the Indiana plant. The v6 trannys licensed through zf are made in the Kokomo plant.

I think they have now ramped up production enough there to build them all in house-hopefully production standards will not diminish.

^^^Exactly.
All Chrysler 8-speeds are ZF design..just that the Chrysler 845RFE is built here in the US with some design changes to help with mass production.
I know one change Chrysler made early on was to strengthen the parking pawl which help boost the tow rating of the V6 from 5000 to 6200 lbs.

If you go to ZF site, they show a start/stop option for the 8HP transmission...as well as a Hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid versions.
Also interesting is they have released their 2nd gen 8HP which they claim further increases its efficiency over the 1st gen design which I would assume Chrysler has been using.

So, noting the suppose 2016 GC and D changes to the driveline with the upgraded Pentastar V6, it also could very well have the 2nd gen version of the 8HP along with the Start/Stop option. I would think it would be easier to simply buy that option/tech from ZF than Chrysler develop their own Start/Stop system to work with the ZF design trans.
