On my way home after around 280 miles the engine stalled and the insulation next to the transmission over the exhaust was burning up (more like smoking up), luckily it does not literally burn, but it is scary!
There was a really strong wind coming from the back and the couple bottle of water I spilled on it could not stop all of it, I was angry, scared and my wife was completely panicked.
Luckily the car started again and I was able to drive to a car wash about 7 miles away and stop the insulation fire.
After washing the underbody and the engine compartment, the D drove another 2.5 miles and stalled again, smelled like burnt pizza and no spark from the coil.
Some pics of the trailer queen :furious:

It should get here next week so I can take closer look at the issue, my first though was that the insulation came loose and laid on the cat converter caught fire and burnt some electrical cables. Then that en electrical short circuit triggered the fire and now I'm leaning towards a broken exhaust manifold bolt or something similar. We'll see.

My D was finally delivered to me last thursday, I put it on the lift and checked all the cables and exhaust and all locked good, the insulation has some parts burnt off over the cat mainly (Sorry but I did not have my camera with me but I will take and post some pics when I find some time). Maybe some animal or insect built an nest over it during the 6 weeks it was away and then caught fire and burnt the insulation, I have really no other explanation for that incident.

I knew there was no spark from the coil, as that was easy to diagnose on the side of the road with no tools, by simply disconnecting the main cable and holding it close to the coil while my wife tried to start the engine.
So I replaced the coil with the previous/old one I still had in my Durango parts box, the D started up immediately with the old coil.
To make sure it was the coil I swapped the coils and had the same results.

This SMP #UF198 coil I swapped around 2 1/2 years ago was dead. I am planing to buy a new one and saw the mopar coils come all from china so I'm hesitating, anyone knows of a good brand?

I'm really glad my shiny D is back on the road :D
