My wife had a problem with the Durango and seeing if this happened to anyone. She started it up this morning and gave it gas but it wasn't moving. Looked at the dash and it was stuck in D5. Which is 5th gear. Also the engine light came on. Probably a bad sensor. But not sure yet, still waiting at the dealer.

Well the dealer hooked it up to the scanner and found a engine code. P0735. I checked that code and it has something to do with the 5th gear. Dealer said it was a glitch. Which I thought if you clear the code it would be fine but I wanted to make sure. So far the car is running good. Time will tell.

Darn electronics glitches!
Those days of service techs or home mechanics being able to diagnose the problem are going by the wayside, now to work on your new car or be a new mechanic, you need to be a software engineer as well!

Hopefully it won't rear it's head again. I was driving in stop and go traffic last week due to an accident on the interstate. I started moving the gear selector from Drive to Neutral when it appeared I would be stopped for extended periods. Did this several times and eventually it threw a fit. Went to shift it back into Drive and it just flashed and didn't go in gear. I shifted all the way to Park and then back into Drive and it was fine. Needless to say I stopped shifting into Neutral when I was stopped :p

Did the dealer do anything besides clear the code?

My is doing the same thing. Dealership can’t look at mines for another 3 weeks. What did your dealership do to fix the glitch. Thanks in advance

So what was the outcome? Did you have to get any work done to your DD?

Post is from 2014 and he never responded to the last person that asked.

I had a problem with my 2014 occasionally hanging in a gear then throwing an engine light I think mine was 3rd

Try starting and stopping 3x in a row quickly this would clear the light and it would operate normally and only occasionally popped up like once in 10K miles.
