Hi,

I am in the process of buying D 2014 Citadel AWD V8. The dealer offers the car with standard OEM tires which I believe are 205/55 R16, All-season Kumho Solus KH25. I have read bad comments about Solus and that they can lead to serious accidents.

I live in middle east and would be using the car on road mainly with some journeys offroad on rough roads or sand dunes on weekends.

Does anyone have any feedback on OEM installed tires?

What brand/model tires do you recommend for all terrain that can give acceptable experience while having minimal impact on mileage?

Thanks,

Some quick searching is showing that the stock tires are 265/50r20 for the Citadel, but they might have a couple different sizes for them especially outside of the country. I've been doing a lot of research into new all terrain tires myself lately and it appears that the firstone destination a/t and the michelin ltx a/t 2 are the two top all terrain tires out there. This is in the states though, so I'm not sure if they're available over in the middle east. This should give you some idea of comparisons between the different all terrains out there.

16's? really? I'll have to go look at my GC (with 18's) and see what the clearance looks like.. I don't think there is an extra inch of brake clearance for a smaller wheel..

Thanks that_guy, I checked the review but its mainly for snow based scenarios. I found some interesting A/T tires review for Toyo new gen A/T tires http://www.off-road.com/trucks-4x4/review/review-toyo-tire-open-country-allterrain-ii-53564.html it might be helpful to the others. My main concern is that it gets really hot over here in July above 100 F, 40 Celsius and this can cause major issues if the tires are used in rough offroad driving conditions.

You can opt for the 18" wheels and have a few more AT options
I would go with the Michelin LT all terrains, Great overall traction and extreme durability

Sounds like you need input from someone in Vegas then

I'm in Palm Springs CA. I am heading to Glamis this weekend. I'm not using my D to off road
there but will be trailering my toys behind it and will let you know how it does at that.

You tube Glamis and let me know if that is the type of conditions you are familiar with...
