Oil spraying her??

They spray everything on undercarriage with an oil bath. It coats the metal, keep the bushings moist, and fends off salt rust.

Thanks guys, it's great to hear from everyone again! The hood still gets a lot of compliments and the D is still in really good shape. I use a place called Crown Rust that oil sprays the undercarriage and into the body panels literally everywhere they can get the nozzle in to. This is what's kept my D rust free. The only thing I need is a lower leather seat cover for the driver's side. It's almost black, but is actually a blend with dark gray. If anyone knows where I can find a decent one, that would be cool? :)

The color is officially know as agate.

Hello Tino,

Yep, still have the AAR hood even after it'd been stored in the garage for two years a while back. It's on a newer '03 now a different color red, FR, now. Yes, I still pheasant hunt, except today? had to work on an opener! :x. But, I'll be headed out early tomorrow morning with Brett, our new 2 year old Brittany. Angela has been showing him at dog shows in the region.

I've never heard of doing this?? Doesn't the oil spray underneath attract dirt? What type of oil do they spray? Not that I'd want to do mine as, even though we live in a salt environment here on the Gulf Coast, it seems to me it'd make a mess. Then again, I hand wash my undercarriage and, from my cleanup thread, you can see I try to keep everything underneath clean enough to eat off of! lol

Up in Ontario it's fairly popular to do this. If you're looking for a show quality under carriage, I'd definitely not spray it with the oil. It's really meant to keep the water/moisture off of the metal and is specially designed so it won't damage rubber, lines, etc. It has a creeping agent in it and it'll get into every nook and cranny. If you're in an area where rust is a problem and you're not too concerned about a show room appearance of the under carriage, then I'd highly recommend it. Walmart in Canada offers it in their shops.

The 03's are nice as they have a better braking package than the 02's. You have a beautiful dog and I bet he points great!! We use to have a lot of pheasant up in my neck of the woods but, with all the urban sprawl, they're gone now. I can remember when we'd see them in groups of easily 10 to 12 birds eating with our chickens back in the 70's. I don't hunt anymore, but do have a nice family dog (a schnoodle - part schnauzer, part poodle lol) and she loves to chase rabbits and squirrels.

Be safe and have fun! :)

I know several guys who use "Waxoil", which does the same thing, in their engine compartment, chassis, etc. and claim it works great (google "Waxoil" to read about it), but I've ever did it myself.

Good lookin ride you have there James! And yes, I do know about Waxoil and it's supposed to be a good product also from what I hear.

My grandpap and father have been coating the undersides all of their vehicles with oil for years to protect them from the salt on the roads during the winter. It seems to work since they have a handful of old 70s Chevy pickups and a few old Pontiacs and Oldsmobiles with very little in the way of rust on the bottom.
