There was a bad snowstorm here today, so of course I took my D out to help some people with vehicles stuck in the snow. A reporter from Icelandic state owned RÚV TV came along while I was helping one of the cars out and took some shots without me knowing, I just saw him with the camera when I was leaving. Then when I was watching the news, there it was? The rear of my D in the background as they where introducing the story, then a story about a bus blown off the road, then my D going through the snow, then some shots here and there from my town, then an interview with a police officer who happens to my friend, then my D again, and then me walking away from one of the cars I was helping.

Here's a link to the news story. :bugeyed:

Nice, we have a celebrity D to admire. Nice behind!

Indy my dear friend, that's called handball. Our women's team is one of the teams that made it to the World Cup of handball and in the story they'd just beat the team form the small country of China. lol They're doing very good! Our men's team won the Silver in the Olympics and came in second in World Cup. Very good for a country with only about 330k residents.

I'm amazed! Did you really watch the whole news in Icelandic :?:

The rules at the firehouse where, if anyone was captured on the news, that person had to buy everyone a adult frosty beverage. Does the same apply here?? :cheesy:

BTW  on the moment of fame. She looked perdy.

Handball? OIC. No handball much in the USA. Looks like fun.

And yes I watched it. You asked us to, so why wouldn't I? How else would I know about the "handball." Plus, yours news anchor? let's just say I'm a sucker for blondes? albeit I prefer long hair. :)

Nice to see you D in action in the opening story.

Now I know a word in Icelandic, vedur = weather (I think??) lol
Yeah you're spot on lol. And I did go to the post office with some adult frosty beverages for everyone here, but they're not driving Durangos so they were stuck somewhere. I guess they drank it all, so don't count on getting anything. Indy you're going to have to come to Iceland, but you'd hurt your neck turning your head all the time!   But you're welcome if you want to take the risk? :cheesy:

Wow, I wouldn't have called that as handball since I've played American handball before and it's completely different (you bounce a small rubber ball against the 4 walls in an enclosed room) and pretty popular (or at least it use to be.)

Believe it or not, I found out we (the USA that is) actual have Olympic Handball teams. Who knew :? (I don't recall ever seeing it televised, or even mentioned, during the Olympics!?!?) I also took the time to read up on the game and it sounds pretty rough, sorta like a cross between hockey, basketball and soccer (committing fouls is OK and, in fact, considered a good game strategy, wow!!) I'm surprised it hasn't caught on here in the US yet as it sure seems to meet our taste for violent, fast paced, action filled, team sports??

BTW, nice to see a fellow D owner's vehicle "in action." Congrats!

Thanks Big Al, yes handball is very fast and very popular in Europe and Asia. You can commit fouls, but if they're too rough you can be thrown off the court for 2 minutes and if that happens 3 times you're out for the rest of the game.

Yeah, I saw that in the rules. That's part of the game that combines aspects of both Hockey and basketball.

In hockey it's considered a normal part of the game to body-check (i.e. foul) other players but, if you do it too hard or from the wrong direction, you get sent to the penalty box for 2 minutes and the team has to do without you. And in basketball, if a player incurs too many penalties, they have to sit out the rest of the game.
