Yeah if it was within 3/36 it would be covered but not sure of a 5 year old Durango. Do you have an extended warranty?
Regardless call your dealer and see what they can do.

As an SSV was it in police service before? If so there was probably some damage from whatever happened inside the car or a mod they made.

Thanks for the responses.
  • It was never in Police Service, it was a dealer demo I purchased.
  • “Umbrella Dents”, like literally from an Umbrella? Nope.
  • I had an extended warranty, but I’m now closing in on 80k miles. I’ll see what my dealer says regardless.

Maybe it had something dropped on it then. Unless you can tell there is a dent from inside. I'll be shocked if a dealer covers it in any way.

It might be hard to see in the picture, but the paint in bowed out, like something popped from underneath, there’s approximately 3, that I’ve noticed so far, and there’s zero indications or evidence of anything from inside the passenger cabin hitting the roof.
I’m also the only driver.
I’d be shocked too. They do keep trying to get me into a new vehicle, maybe they’ll try use that. Who knows.

Could be a stone chip that rusted from beneath and popped the paint up

I had this happen to my 300S. I removed the overhead console to upgrade the map lights, and i guess when I put it back in , I used too much force and the retainer must have hit the roof causing a slight bubble. It took a long time before I noticed, but it is there, not as bad as this one, but it is there....

I’ve never done any upgrades to the interior.

Good to know, I’ll bring that up when I go. Thanks!
You may need to bring the guy in your avatar picture cause it is sad to say, dealers HATE warranty work and will do most of what they can to blow it off.

I’ll see if he’s available. 😂

it’s amazing how they’ll everything possible to avoid warranty work
yeah I do not think Tesla has that issue since there are no independent dealers, just Tesla.
I would love Dodge to follow that business model.

I had this issue on my '01 Durango, as well as an '04 Crown vic. I had the Crown Vic redone, but it came back. The lesson here for all truck/SUV owners, is to regularly check the roof.
