Does anyone know the torque spec for the front brake caliper mounting bolts? Also, I noticed I will need a larger allen key than what I have to remove the bolts. Does anyone know off hand what size allen key I will need?

This is for a 2014 Durango R/T.

The front is 10mm the rear is 7mm

Well, a 10mm will work at least.

Yes it actually will. I used a 10mm hex on our 2012 when I did the brakes on it, because I didn’t have an 11 and couldn’t find one anywhere here in town. It was sketchy. I was worried it would strip and I definitely made sure not to over tighten. I ordered an 11mm hex head socket the next day so I’d have it.

This is all so confusing. My ‘99 Durango has a 7mm hex bolt for the caliper mounting bolt. If we cannot get a straight answer on the bolt size, how the heck are we supposed to get a straight answer on the correct toque spec?

I’ve seen some articles state 113, 100 & 70 for the torques specs on front brakes.70 stripped my bolt hole. I fear even 40 would do it again. I’m gonna hand tighten & call it a day.

Is there anything wrong with that?

Confusing because you are talking about a 1st gen Durango which has smaller and different style brakes than the later 3rd gen. The 3rd gen has 2 different brakes...reg and HD...and then there are probably some production changes which is why some have different size caliper pins/bolts.

But typically the TQ is going to be low on the Caliper pins...not to be confused with the Caliper Mounting Bracket Bolts!!!

TQ on that '99 should only be 22 ft lbs tq for the front caliper pins. Which is like hand tight.

And he is asking in the third gen forum for a first Gen DD. Doh!

Perfect answer, thank you.

no mention of year/generation restrictions. It’s not a 3rd Gen Durango forum, it’s a Durango forum. 🤓

Look at the sub-forum titles, silly. And I was wrong, Gen 3 is '11 and up. There was a refresh in '14 that continued until '20. Then another refresh for '21 but all still Gen 3.
