Hello,
New member with a bit of an issue. Was wondering if anyone has opinions, or if there's a Dodge rep on here that can escalate my situation within my dealer.
So last Friday I purchased a new Dodge Durango Hellcat at a local dealer. I traded in my 2018 Jeep SRT plus put a good chunk of change down. I was told I couldn't test drive it as they don't allow test drives of performance vehicles. I thought that was weird, but didn't pay too much attention as I was excited to get home. After signing all the paperwork we went outside where the vehicle had been moved too. I got inside and noticed a LOW I/C display and a check engine light. I immediately brought this to the attention of the sales guys who had walked outside with me. They mentioned it was likely because the vehicle was sitting for a month inside. They brought it inside the service department and had to code flashed and noted the coolant level was fine. I didn't think much of it at that point. Upon leaving the parking lot there was a terrible vibration/rubbing sound when accelerating so I turned around and went back.
Being it was Friday late afternoon the service techs had now all left. A sales associate who happened to be an old tech hoisted the vehicle onto the lift and noticed an exhaust shield very near to a crossmember. He told me this was a simple fix and to bring the vehicle back on Monday. He also said the LOW I/C code (now off) likely wouldn't come back. So on my way home with the rubbing/vibration noise I'm sort of pissed as it's a $90k vehicle but whatever, I'll bring it back Monday. I get about 20 miles from the dealership and the LOW I/C code turns back on. I text my sales guy who told me it's no big deal and just mention that on Monday.
SO on Monday I bring it in to service and after waiting two hours the service tech tells me the vehicle should have never been sold to me without making sure the vehicle was in a safe fashion to drive. Nor should I have been allowed to drive it AFTER the sales person knew it was throwing a code. So I was put into a rental and then told the part is on a national backorder with no information on when it could be in. I sent this to my sales guy who has yet to respond to me. At this point I'm pissed. I understand they can't control a back ordered part, but they shouldn't have sold me a NEW vehicle without making sure it was in working condition, correct?
I'm fine waiting a few days, but no way am I waiting weeks or a month for my new vehicle. What would you all do here? I'm wishing I purchased a different vehicle at this point.
