Insurance claim if you have collision pay your deductible and let the shop fix it
I don’t believe this would be covered under collision. Comprehensive or mechanical breakdown MAYBE; definitely not collision though

so how end up this story?
After i took it to my mechanic they said all hope was lost and that my engine blew up like the 4th of july. i could not afford to have them put in a new v8 so i paied them to put in the v6 it ended up being 8 grand for the v6 and they said the v8 would be 14 grand and i dont have that type of money i offered to do them some favors but they said no :( and i had to pay all 8 grand for the v6. now its backfiring when i let off the accelerator and my handy dandy mechanic won't help me. Im also very upset that my car attracts the bortal patrol i have to cross the border to do business and i get spotted more easily now that my car goes pop pop bing bang!! and is now super slow :( Ay Dios Mios

2 years ago I was at the Mopar Nationals, and there were a few swappers who had a few Hemi engines with pcu for 1800, and v6 with pcu for 950. Not sure of the mileage, but the swapper said they were under 100,000. If I did not have Max-Care, I for sure would have another v6 in the barn on stand-by.

You definitely GOT GOT mi amigo!
But...if you have DOCUMENTATION, as in receipts for the "work" and payment to your "handy dandy" mechanic....
I'm positive you could get a small claims judge to agree that you were ripped off.
That probably wouldn't immediately get your money back from the blood sucker but it WILL affect his financials right away and...in time...if he doesn't pay you....you can drag him back to court where he will be found in contempt of the judgement. Then he's got some problems.
Bad news I know but....
Many of these creeps know this and will often try to work with you once served with the subpoena paper to get you to drop the suit.
It's about all, those of us that can't afford to have an attorney on retainer, can do to legally "get even" when taken in this way.
I've used this method a few times after being wronged and I know that it works.
Takes a little time and effort along with a few more dollars for court filing and process service. But it CAN work for you when not much else will.
Buenos suerte!

DOn't mean to be a jerk but is this story real or maybe we are not getting the full story? 14k for a new engine or 8k for a V6? You paid that but you were too cheap to purchase the proper fuel?
Did you contact your insurance company to see if the accidental incorrect fuel being added would be covered?
Did you shop around for a used motor before buying the 8K V6 which I assume all new fuel rails, ECM programming, sensors, etc etc etc needed to be replaced?
How many miles on your DD, was it even worth spending that much money to get a half ass fix done?

Putting diesel in a gas vehicle typically doesn't blow anything up. Doing the reverse (gas into a diesel) can in fact cause a big kaboom. But putting diesel in a gas system isn't an explosive situation. While it can absolutely wreck the fuel system including the fuel pump, the fuel filter, and the injectors, it won't go boom. In fact, it normally just requires you to drop the tank and rinse it several times with fresh gasoline. If it was actually run, the fuel system would certainly need some (expensive) replacement parts. But I have never seen a report of a gas motor "blowing up" from being fed diesel. Typically the diesel won't even get to the motor as it will just gum up the fuel system and starve the motor completely. I seriously doubt there was anything wrong with the original motor itself. However, given the OP's general lack of knowledge on this stuff, I strongly suspect a ripoff by the mechanic and/or shop making up damage that simply didn't exist. I'm curious - what evidence was given that the motor blew up? Was an itemized list of damaged components provided? Was any verification of that damage done? Did anybody see the parts that were replaced?

I bet if the injectors pushed diesel into the combustion chamber there is a good chance of hydraulic lockup and things bending/breaking.

Surely this is just a joke. If not OP got scammed.

I agree. I am not sure how they claim $14k for a V8. Due to changing parts to make the V6 compatible, it should be cheaper to replace it with a drop in replacement vs a conversion. Not sure about OPs location, but looking at car-part.com, there are a couple dozen used V8s salvaged from totaled cars with less than 100k miles with prices ranging from $1500-2500. A lot of these salvage yards will also include a standard 90 day warranty or up to a 4 year warranty if installed by an ASE certified shop. OP should have been out the door for maybe $5k with a V8 if they did indeed have to replace it. The shop I go to will also take pictures of the damage in case the customer wants proof of why things were replaced.

Yeah this guy @Ricky Spanish is off his rocker and full of it. Either that or he should not be driving because he and his wife are very dense human beings.

From your 2 posts, it seems like you not only need insurance, but an extended warranty that covers user error.

If you are trolling us, just wrap it up and tell us that you are a certified mechanic. That would be the cherry on top.

You should probably siphon it all out and start fresh. If you drove it then you will have to hope no other damage was done.
