Winter tire suggestions?

So I just went to the dealership yesterday and factory ordered a 2019 Durango SRT. (So excited...) According to the dealer, it would take 10-12 weeks for the vehicle to arrive, which means it would be December or even January.
I live in Alberta and the winter is very harsh. However, I picked the 3 season performance tire because I wanted to get the best of it during summer months... So I would assume that winter tires are a must...
I'm just wondering if there is any suggestions regarding which winter tires I should get? I have the 275 60r20 winter tires from my old Ram truck. Would I be able to use that one?
And also, should I get rims for winter use as well?
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks guys!

I would recommend getting a second set of rims to go along with the winter tires. I brought a complete set of winter tires and rims off a member here and it's so nice to just change them without the hassle of mounting and unmounting twin a year.

I am basically in the same boat as you Kevtt. I have some 20 inch winter tires from a 2014 Durango R/T and would like to use them on my new SRT, and have decided the best way to go is to put them on a second set of rims. I would recommend a second set of rims to avoid the fee (unless you can do it yourself) of swapping a second set of tires twice a year onto your SRT rims. Plus, you will avoid damage to your nice SRT rims from having tires swapped onto them. I just have to find a set that will fit and not be terribly expensive.

I downsized the rims to 18 inch from my 20s and must say i much prefer the look of the smaller rim as the tire looks a lot beefier. My first set of winter tires were the Toyo Observe...GARBAGE!!!!! Vehicle would not stop at the slightest touch of braking on snow/slush/ Second set I went the Blizzaks and they are fantastic! I live in Toronto area!

My brother from another mother! My winter set of rims are matte black, 20x10 Replika R148Bs on 265/50R20 Bridgestone Blizzaks. A lot of bite through winter. And, I, too, live in the T. O. area.

They don't look that much different than the summer set below.

Our last winter in KC wasn’t too bad, but I ran the stock all season Perelli’s in the snow and it didn’t hardly slip a wheel unless you force it to. It gets great traction in snow mode. I am not worried about the stock tires for snow, but the depth of the snow would be more of an issue with the plowing effect of the front end. After about 6” the front air dams that hang down will start pushing snow.

My 18' R/T has AWD, and came with Bridgestone Ecopia in the 265/45x20 form factor.

They did an absolute awesome job here in the Michigan winter last year! They are not Blizzaks, but with the AWD in the Durango, they sure felt felt like a dedicated winter tire.

I had a 16' AWD Charger with Michelin's on it, and I thought that handled well. It had nothing on the Durango, that thing is just great in snow and rain with those tires.

Here are my 275x50s r20s mounted up on some spider monkey reps 20x10s. These are the new R3s. I run the exact same setup on my wife’s JSRT but she has the older R2s. This is a go anywhere tire in the winter, far more impressed with these vs my previous Blizzaks.

for my 2018 SRT I ordered new 20" x 9" black Jeep SRT rims from stockwheelsolutions.com they are wonderful to deal with and shipped one wheel to test fit first. It clears the Brembos by just a 1/4". A piece of a corrugated box fits between rim and brakes. A spacer would do better but my tire dealer says they will be fine. I then added Nokian Hakapillita SUV R3 studless snow tires. Tires cost about $1000 mounted and balanced with TPMS sensors. Rims cost about $850.00 with shipping.
I've used 2 sets of Nokians on an Expedition for 11 years NY to Canada and back in horrible weather with good results.

I'd also be interested in suggestions for winter tires and a cheap source of wheels for dedicated winter driving.

An earlier post suggested Nokian winter tires, which also scored the best in Car and Driver's testing.

But unfortunately they're not sold by Tire Rack. Tire Rack lists only one type of tire that fits the standard 20x10 SRT wheels: the Pirelli 295/45R20 "Scorpion Winter Performance," which have the mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.

As for wheels, the cheapest wheels Tire Rack sells are KM696 Pivot: $237.69 x 4 = $951 for a set of four.

Does anyone have any recommendations for cheap(er) wheels? Any experience, good or bad, with the Pirelli Scorpions?
