I have only used the start by phone feature half a dozen times. What i do use all the time is the texting feature.

I wasn't planning on renewing my uconnect access but i wanted to make sure that feature wouldn't go away.

Thanks!

in my charger it would still read me my texts but It would only allow reply with a canned text. After it expired I never renewed.

I never renewed my RAM's either. The phone start feature was kind of nice when it was super cold, but not worth the monthly fee and iOS has never worked with UCon so no loss of reading me the texts. That's what SIRI is for anyway.

I did not renew my Uconnect and the I just lost the ability to use my iPhone to turn on my D. All the apps are still operational.

I could never figure out how to get it to read my texts... any input? or am I overlooking something simple?

On my iPhone 6, I had to go into the Bluetooth menu and click on the little "i" icon to the left of the Uconnect connection. Then enable the "Show notifications" feature.

Nope, you won't lose the ability to have text messages read aloud if you get rid of Uconnect access. Custom voice responses will be lost though and you'll only be able to select from several canned messages.

In general UConnect access is a waste of money. Can't really believe there are that many people that pay for it..

I have a windows phone with Cortana. I think Cortana is available on Android and Iphone now. You can "Call Cortana" then say, "Cortana text my wife" or whoever, and then say your message. Cortana will override Uconnect for voice commands. It can read an incoming message and then allow you to reply.
