Was totally bummed for the last 12 weeks about the installation of my nerf bars. As I was installing them on my back in the driveway, I blew out my knee (not while doing the install itself) and had to very hurriedly finish them so I could drive to the hospital... they looked crooked, but i didnt have much choice. I just chalked it up to haphazardly tightening them on as quickly as possible.. Surgery, rehab, etc and now it was time to get back to the nerf bars.
No WAY i was getting on my back in the driveway again.. thankfully found
garageyourself.. a DIY place with all the lifts and tools a handy novice like me would need.
After removing the 40 bolts of odd sizes, the 6 brackets and the bars, and inspecting everything with the owner (cool dude, my age) it turns out they're NOT on crooked.. it's an optical illusion because of the way the nerfs mount in front of the grey lower panels and chrome strip... those panels arent level with the ground.. theyre higher in the back then the front..
So the owner and I cut the steel brackets, measured and eyeballed, and welded them back together, painted them and rebolted everything back on. There's a hight difference from the back to the front of just under an inch... 5 hours later...and HOLY GOD it gives my heart a warm fuzzy every time I've looked at them compared to the fretting OCD symmetry heartache I was feeling every time I snapped a pic.
And that's what I did to my Durango today.
