What did you do to your Durango today?

Here's a thread that I see on a lot of car forums that is pretty fun to look through.

So, what did you do today? It can be anything from a fresh wash to ordering new parts!

Found some leftover Reflect-a-Gold in my toolbox. Shockingly effective at dropping IAT’s. I was sitting at 20F over ambient at cruise before, and now it’s ~14F over ambient at cruise (same ambient temps and route). Also 3D scanned the intake so I can 3D print a diverter to replace the OE intake “snorkel” and direct air into the airbox area.

Where will the air be directed in from? Early on I removed the rubber seal on the hood just above the headlight, and raised that rubber hexagon stop to keep the hood up just a bit higher. Allowed air to come in the gap.

The best ram air so to speak was when I did the fog light hole and had a tube running up into the intake area.

Nice to see some hard numbers on the effectiveness of the wrap. Lots of people report "it works," but hardly anybody posts actual data. Looks like a worthwhile mod, although the authentic DEI gold wrap is a little costly. Let us know how the adhesive holds up over time.

That is sweet. How much work to do that.

It's really a pretty easy project. Buy an inexpensive 2.5" hole saw bit (or any size you like), some black mesh screen, and a can of VHT High Temperature Plastic Paint. A little sanding to smooth the holes and cutting of the underside support are the only real labor. You can remove the gray plastic center piece for easier painting, but I was afraid gluing it back on might be problematic, so I just masked around the edge and covered the black portion of the cover with paper.

So far, I’ve been seeing a minimum of 6F drop at cruise, but more often than not it’s more. Once you start to tip in, it gets a lot closer to no-wrap as you can imagine. I do see IAT drop a little more quickly than before.
All that said - you won’t notice anything in the seat of your pants. The difference really is only on paper.
I’ve used this same stuff on numerous race cars, and have never had a peeling issue. I don’t expect any issues here, either.
