2013 Dodge Durango R/T 5.7 Hemi 6 Speed

Hello, Looking for technical help on all sorts modifications I plan on doing. I guess the first question I have is who has the best C.A.I. ?, Volant, K & N, or Mopar.
I skimmed through some of the threads about this topic buts nothing posted really talked about the pros and cons especially between Volant and K & N. I notice a lot of members went with Volant because it looked good. I checked out the Volant web site and could not find any technical info like how much HP you gain. K & N on the other hand said their Intake will give you an estimated 17 HP gain and had it tested and dyno on a 2012 Dodge Durango. Thanks for the help.

Hi C33
The Volant not only looks good and fits good it performs as well. The box is designed to keep most of the heat from the engine bay away from filter. This is what really helps in short drives around town by keeping mostly air from outside the compartment and these Hemi's generate a lot of underhood heat.
Please post some pictures of that New D so we can all see it.
Let me know if you have any other questions

Hello from Switzerland (Europe),

I own a 1999 Dodge Durango 4WD, Deep Amethyst Pearl, tan leather interior, 5.9 L, NV242HD T-case, 46RH transmission and OE trailer hitch, keeping it stock appearance.
Bought it last year with 86k miles, lots of parts where missing, thanks to dodgedurango.net and dodgeforum.com members I could figure out mainly all I needed to know :)

The Durango is my DD and it replaced my previous 1998 4.3L Chevrolet Blazer (had it for 1 1/2 years), I really like this Durango and hope I can keep it for a long time.
Also own a Black 92 Jeep Cherokee H.O. Limited, a Gun metal gray 2000 4.7L Jeep Grand cherokee (my wife drives this one) and a red 1991 DIY 360ci Pontiac firebird GTA.

Back to the Durango and it's work and parts list done until now,

-Rear RH second and third row seat belts
-lift supports
-seal the rear windows, they were leaking
-tan floor mats, still looking for some O.E. ones
-shifter trim cover, was missing
-front door speakers and O.E. radio/cassette/cd player
-roof racks
-DIY cabin pollen filter
-new front lights assembly
-rear led bulbs and led flasher relay
-accessories belt tensioner pulley
-thermostat housing gasket, water hoses and new coolant
-ignition coil, spark plugs + cables, rotor + cap
-front + rear axle fluids 2x
-transmission filter and ATF+4 2x, also got an Dorman oil pan with drain plug
-engine oil and filter every 2000-2500 miles, air filter around every 4000 miles
-front wheel hub/bearings + discs +pads + calipers + hydraulic hoses
-adjusted the torsion bars
-new dynomax muffler
-new rear O2 sensor
-shock absorbers, KYB MonoMax on all 4 corners, would like to go with Bilstein's some day
-FRH window regulator and motor assembly

On my to do list I have:
-keep the car in good working condition :)
-the complete drivetrain
-leaf springs and FLH torsion bar
-front bumper and body work
-cabin blower fan
-electric auxiliary fan
-16" dakota wheels
...

Guess at this point it is not necessary to point out my hobbies :)

Welcome! Any more info on the cabin air filter? If you're looking for bigger wheels, look into the 00-03 R/T model wheels, they look better than the 01-03 16" wheels in my opinion. As for the electric fan I completely replaced my mechanical one with an electric one from a taurus (a couple others on here have done this too).

Hi there, thank you for your welcome reply!

For the cabin filter I had to seal the inlet compartment, then I glued foam around a standard 1999-20?? grand cherokee cabin filter to make sort of a sealing gasket, made a drip screen, attached 2 plastic radiator mounting "brackets" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/der-13001/overview/ to the filter, inserted the filter inside the inlet compartment and pulled/fixed it to the drip screen with the 2 mounting "brackets". Hope this makes sense, I'll take some pics wen I change the cabin filter.

I know the 17" R/T wheels, but I prefer the 16" wheels, I'm a little old school :)

I did delete the fan clutch system on my 92 Jeep Cherokee (in the attached pic), but not sure yet if I will do it on the Durango, I will start a tread in the tech forum, need some information to figure out how the O.E. aux fan fits and can be added.

Hello, don't think I ever formally intro'd myself.

Proud owner of a new to me 08 Durango Ltd, well for a few months now. Originally a replacement tow vehicle that's become my wife's DD. Since owning it (2 months now), we've logged miles going down and back the i95 corridor plus towing a 5500# travel trailer, specifically an Outback 21RS.

I've already had a few questions answered just by trolling, thanks! However more to come as I dive into doing more with my D...

In fact, one issue that we're having has been a rear end shimmy. Very slight now, been to two different garages, narrowed it down to two bent rims which are now on the rear. One was able to be put back into spec, the other not so lucky. One note about balancing, one garage insisted that the weights can go on the inside, Dodge insists they go on the rim's lip since that's how it comes from the factory. Since getting it back from Dodge ,the shimmy is still there but not near as bad as before.
