The 2014 D has active headrests so I believe installing monitors in the headrest is an issue. Your best bet at this point may likely be one of the portable adaptors/mounts that attach to the seat. Search this forum because I recall a thread regarding some available options.

 

You can find some headrest mounts specifically for the active headrests, I had them on my JGC before I traded it in and sold them on ebay. I forget who made them but will dig around but doing a quick search for "active headrest DVD player" should work. The ceiling will be tough with the controls and the A/C ducts.

 

Probably Cheaper to just get them couple of iPads/ Tablets for the same cost. Portable at the same time and they're not just stuck with watching movies. They can play games as well. Just saying...

 

I totally agree here, we just took an 8 hour trip to the beach and used the iPads with headrest mounts. Bigger screens, each kid can watch what they want, and they can play games if you detach from the mount. Use the wifi app in unconnect and Bam...good to go!

 

Yes but the wifi app.that is offered via.uconnect is really expensive. You could get a cell phone that offers wifi hotspot and it would be much cheaper plus no need to have another bill.

 

The wifi gets to be expensive if you're using it on a daily or even semi-daily basis. For road trips (especially vacations), it's not a huge deal. I'd be happy to pay $10 for wifi for a day if it meant keeping my kid happy while being stuck in a car for a 8-10 hour drive. It beats having to mess with my wireless plan and add on a hotspot service to my phone.

 

My data plan is 10gb.so I wouldn't have issue. 8-10 hrs streaming video via uconnect will run out way before trip is over. They don't allow unlimited data for 1 day as far as I know. I have entertainment package so its not an issue for me either.

 

I believe it is unlimited, I used it 1 day via uconnect on my drive from MD to FL. My three kids were all on their individual tablets or phones watching netflix and youtube while my wife was doing the same on her phone. Cost me $10 and didn't hear a peep out of anybody

 

Sweet!!! The rep I spoke to on phone told me the 1 day was 256 mb.for 10.00

 

Good to know about the wifi hotspot on board. Have not tried it on mine either. But anyway, hope we were able to help you with making decision. Keep us posted.
