Hey All,
First post here. Been shopping for a used Durango lately, but am having a bit of difficulty deciphering the VIN's based on the info in the FAQ section.
I like to know as much, if not more, than the average used-car salesman that I may encounter. I stumbled across a nice looking D the other weekend, but the guy didn't know which engine the truck had. FAQ says that the 8th character is the engine designation? I keep seeing a bunch of "N's" at that character, which isn't helping me.
I'm looking for a 5.9, as I do some occasional towing of my snowmobiles with a 5.0 Chevy pickup and want more power. The 5.2 is only an incremental gain, so I don't want to be stuck with one of those. The one truck I've looked at so far had no identifying stickers under the hood anywhere, so I figured my only recourse was VIN decoding.
Any hints/tips? Things to look for? I'd appreciate any and all help you all can share with a "new guy." Thanks!!
