My .02... I'm pretty much agnostic to american SUVs, with the exception that Durangos are downright sexy as of late, so I went for it without any real knowledge of what's under the hood. I traded in my bored, cammed, tuned (with plenty more) 5.3 silverado for a 2015 SXT Rallye, I have no regrets whatsoever. I was looking for $25k financed or less after trade in and could not justify the extra 8k for the Hemi over the Pentastar. I looked on CL, Autotrader, and Cars.com and was willing to travel anywhere for the right deal... ended up finding mine with 25k miles in TX.

I don't feel any significant difference between the Pentastar and the Hemi. The arguments come for me when I need to haul something, which I don't really do anymore now that my boat is gone.

I'm a Road King kinda guy.. Never owned one, but had a Honda 305 "Dream", Honda 150, Yamaha 650 chopped & bored, Chopped AMF Sporty, Chopped shovel (very briefly), Suzi VX1400, and a Honda Goldwing.
Of those, the Suzi was my favorite. All fun though. I sure miss riding.

I test-drove the RT, the SXT, and several others, including a Challenger Hellcat. After weighing their cost against performance, I could not justify any of the V8 vehicles I drove. Before pullin the trigger, I did extensive research on it's closest competitors also. When doing my online research, I took-in SEVERAL reviews and comparisons that made claims that the V6 DD was "mushy", "sluggish", or just too slow.
One claimed the DD 'wasn't as quick of-the-line as the blah blah'. Utter Nonsense! After owning the SXT for almost three months now, I have to admit that I have no idea WTF those guys were talking about! Even with the thing in "ECO" mode (which is where it normally stays now), I've had no issues with the SXT keeping up with traffic off-the-line, or when pulling out into heavily-traveled roadways at all.
I've loved the HEMI since they came out in 1968, owned several over the years, and can't ever see myself "KNOCKING" them in the least. I just can no longer justify buying another one wallet-wise. Like the new Ford F-150's, the makers want way too much for them today. BTW, the difference in fuel economy did not sway my decision and still wouldn't. But the sticker? Oh yeah!
This is my favorite 2014 ultra classic

Main difference I notice between my Hemi and Pentastar is the low end torque
