Another (slightly different) Durangotan!!! Welcome to the site.

Not to start anything, but you might want to feed your hemi 89 octane instead of 87.

I'm with you, love my 5.7!
Thanks, I have come across Durangutan on some discussion *after* my account was already created. Oh well now you have to deal with two Apes.

I got the 6 because I have another go fast toy and a 640hp caddy, Im doing my part for the environment:)
The general rule to follow is that if all your toys add up to at least 1,000 HP it is OK to get the V6. Otherwise you need to meet your HP contribution level with the V8.

I found it interesting that according to that website my Citadel pull 8.3/16.3 respectively and my old v6 trailblazer was pulling 7.6/15.6. especially since the Durango feels so much faster than the trailblazer did. I am wondering how accurate the site really is.

I used to have a 14 SXT Rallye with the V6. Now I have the R/T. Both AWD. I just wanted to experience what the Hemi was like. As far as fuel economy. I average about 19-20mpg on the RT combined here in LA traffic. On the V6 I used to average about 21 combined. So not a big difference. I think the mds helps out a lot since I drive moderately. But the new V6 also has the start-stop so I'm guessing it's a bit better now.
For towing, I think the V6 is pretty generous considering most competitors in the same class offer 5k lbs or less.. I once towed a uhaul car carrier with a Hyundai Elantra loaded on, probably close to 5k lbs with the V6 for about 300 miles. I think it did very well. Now with the RT I think it'll meet most if not all my towing needs.
Of course there's the difference with the sound, mod options, etc. but bottom line, it's about what you want. I'm happy with both my Durangos and I'm happy I drive the RT now. [emoji106]

Extra gas consumption plus needing 89 octane for full power is significant difference imo
^^^ only reason I'm not considering the R/T[emoji53]

Calculations on EPA make it about $500 cheaper per year to run the 3.6. Reading through the forums it seems like that's about right...most averaging around 16 with R/T and 20 with 3.6.

Does make me wonder once you fill up the GT or Citadel with all the extra packages (i.e. Tow package, safety group, premium group) you loose some of the 20 mpg...

We went with the V6 .... since we found a 3 year leased vehicle with 22,314 miles on it in perfect condition.
Dealer Certified vehicle with 12mo/12k and 7yr/100k.

I also have a go fast vehicle in my fleet to satisfy my need for speed.

I doubt those options make any difference. As far as I know a 3.6 is a 3.6, no change is made to tune or other factors in the various models and options that would affect mileage. The modest weight of a tow package or others is a drop in the bucket.

And to add to this thread; with my Limited Rallye lowered on Eibach's, a K&N CIA, the wheel colour changed, and a Grocerygetter strut tower brace on the way, I'll be less envious of the R/T (but still a bit);

I do wish I had a Hemi in my D since I think a cast iron V8 will last longer in the same application as an aluminum V6.

But my wife would have either bankrupted us with speeding tickets or killed herself with one; or killed me, or some combination of those.

With the 8 speed behind it, the V6 feels faster than her previous car (Hyundai Elantra), and gets similar fuel economy (27+ highway)

I love those Kawasaki zrx sweet ride
I'm a Road King kinda guy.. Never owned one, but had a Honda 305 "Dream", Honda 150, Yamaha 650 chopped & bored, Chopped AMF Sporty, Chopped shovel (very briefly), Suzi VX1400, and a Honda Goldwing.
Of those, the Suzi was my favorite. All fun though. I sure miss riding.

I test-drove the RT, the SXT, and several others, including a Challenger Hellcat. After weighing their cost against performance, I could not justify any of the V8 vehicles I drove. Before pullin the trigger, I did extensive research on it's closest competitors also. When doing my online research, I took-in SEVERAL reviews and comparisons that made claims that the V6 DD was "mushy", "sluggish", or just too slow.
One claimed the DD 'wasn't as quick of-the-line as the blah blah'. Utter Nonsense! After owning the SXT for almost three months now, I have to admit that I have no idea WTF those guys were talking about! Even with the thing in "ECO" mode (which is where it normally stays now), I've had no issues with the SXT keeping up with traffic off-the-line, or when pulling out into heavily-traveled roadways at all.
I've loved the HEMI since they came out in 1968, owned several over the years, and can't ever see myself "KNOCKING" them in the least. I just can no longer justify buying another one wallet-wise. Like the new Ford F-150's, the makers want way too much for them today. BTW, the difference in fuel economy did not sway my decision and still wouldn't. But the sticker? Oh yeah!
