Newbie here, but saw this topic almost immediately and I wanted to chime in. We recently purchased a 2014 SXT V6. Prior to truck, I had a HEMI Charger for a few years so I was well aware with the HEMI capabilities, but after having drove the v6 with the 8speed tranny I cant say i'm going to miss the HEMI all that much. Obviously gas mileage was a big factor, as was price - but when I was in the Charger I thought I could never live without a V8 anymore. The V6 pulls hard enough to let you know that there's some power, and the engine still has a nice growl to it.

One of the first mods I will be doing is purchashing some type of Diablo tuner to squeeze those last bits of HP/TQ out of the V6, I feel like I will be pretty happy with a little over 300hp :) Afterall, I bought this for comfort and features before power.

Very well said! Diablo tuner is my next mod. Hopefully a RT exhaust will be soon as well since mine came with a single exhaust

Yeah man, the RT exhaust would be a nice upgrade. I'm still considering what work i'd like to do with the exhaust, but honestly that sounds like it will be the best option.

Also, your signature is perfect haha

With all this talk about the R/T exhaust, I'm wondering if its much, if any different than the exhaust on the Rallye, anyone know? Granted I know its V8 vs V6, but I'm not sure they would have really changed it much, unless they did run a different diameter pipe....

From what I can tell, they are virtually all the same. Someone had a great write-up on converting from a single exhaust to an RT. I'd like to go that way, because IF I'm looking for even more rasp, there is a resonator delete kit.

Does that Diablo tuner mess with the warrenty at all? ( Might be a stupid question )

No, and I've never hidden the fact that I use one. My Diablo tuner I had for my trucks won't work on my D, so I sold it and need to order the intune

In my research, the Heat/Rallye exhaust is the same as a v8 crew/limited/citadel, which is different from the R/T. The R/T is the only one that uses that exhaust. The "standard v8" exhaust is the same size/route piping, and same size muffler and resonators. The only difference is inside the muffler and resonators to give the R/T the different, more rumbly sound.

In fact, the diameter pipe that came off my v6 single is the same size as the pipe that went in from a R/T (except the installed R/T exhaust had duals instead of single)

I have pics on this thread of both exhaust systems:

Interesting. I'll keep my eye out for a cheap/free R/T exhaust in my area. Then when the wife isn't looking, I'll sneak it on the lift in my neighbors garage and swap it around! Unless of course it significantly changes the tone inside... then I'll get a whopping for it, haha.

I'd really like to know what the V6 dual exhaust sounds like with a delete kit. The hemi with delete sounds great.

I'm pretty sure it will be a noticeable difference. The heat/rallye exhaust is quiet, right?

I'm curious how it would sound too, but I am not hopeful that it would sound good. I think that kit might make the exhaust too free flowing that it will start popping and sounding like an import. I know already with the R/T exhaust if I hard accelerate and get over 5000 rpm, it does pop/gargle on the upshift

Removing the resonator should not change the flow just the sound. I really don't want a cheesy sound and I'm fine with how yours sounds and I prefer the dual exhaust look.

I'm also glad this has been a good discussion. I think those with the 8 speed are happy with how quick the V6 D actually is. It is not sluggish at all and those who haven't driven one probably think it is.

WHen using the R/T system on a V6 I would not remove resonators as these v6 motors need a little backpressure or your TQ will be a lot less

Almost 2 years ago I gave up my 11' Camaro SS when my kids out grew the back seat. At the time I made a safe choice and went back to a quad cab Silverado. Buying the R/T helped restore the balance lost when I gave up speed and power for functionality. So far I have no regrets. Gas prices falling have been icing on the cake!

I got rid of a 11' Camaro SS myself, but not for kids. I wanted the R/T AWD for snow for now and for hauling stuff for a new house. I'm eyeing a vette or a viper in less than 10 years.

I personally really wanted an R/T mainly because of the look of it but although the extra power of the Hemi would be nice I honestly don't need it. Gas prices are down right now but it's not going to stay that way and I didn't want that expense after gas returns to $4.00/gal in the summer. Long story short I ended up with a V6 Citadel and I love it!!! I got it for not much more than what I would've paid for an R/T and it has a lot more in it. I still like the look and sound of the R/T but I'm very happy with my choice.....Having said that I had a question about the exhaust that has been discussed here....I have the Citadel which has the dual exit exhaust and from what you guys have said it is the same exhaust that is on the V8's minus the R/T....My question is could I just get two R/T mufflers ONLY and use the to replace my mufflers for the added sound or is the pipeing or connections a different size??? I'm not looking for added HP but just want a little more rumble with tearing the whole exhaust out Thanks everyone for your help

Technically you could swap out mufflers with any muffler, including R/T. Exhaust systems arent very complicated and any muffler shop will be able to bend/add/remove the piping as needed to get different mufflers to fit. For example on one of my previous cars, an R/T charger, i replaced the stock mufflers with flowmasters while leaving the rest of the exhaust setup in place. Hope that helps!
