I thought I would start this to track latest known versions of Uconnect 5 for each model year.

2021FCA-MY23.T27.39-PROD
2022FCA-MY23.T27.39-PROD
2023FCA-MY23.T27.39-PROD
2024FCA-MY24.U31.42-PROD

I’ll try to keep this updated as I find more information. Please feel free to post up any information you have in case I have something wrong. The list above will be official releases since it’s possible to run other versions on older model years but it’s not supported and may cause issues with your dealer/Uconnect support.

Edit: As noted by stoopalini it's possible that versions are brand/model specific. I have adjusted the known entries above to verified versions. 2022 and 2024 are still unknowns and I will leave a question mark behind them until I can verify the versions.

1/22/2025 - OTA versions of FCA-MY23.T27.39-PROD have arrived for 2021 and 2022 models so updating version table.

Thank you for clarifying. So the "Special Package" to "WD SRT" will get my helmet guys back & not tweak my buttons.
Correct.

Can you tell me what the path is to get to that setting?
I'm not sure on that as I don't use Android. I use Alfa on a Window PC. On that, you go to tge "Active Diagnostic" tab, then select "Car Configuration Change" in the drop down, and go to the "Special Package" option under the "VehConfig 1" section and change it to "WD SRT". Then apply the change.

Not sure how the procedure differs with Android though.

On an aside, I've been reading through your Teensy project. That's really impressive!
Thanks! It was fun and frustrating all at the same time LOL! But definitely worthwhile for me, and satisfying :)

Your instructions were perfect. It'd have been a month of Sundays before I ever figured that out! The status shows WD SRT now but no helmet guys. I did the volume/tuner knob reset but it didn't do the trick so I'm guessing it has to go through some sleep cycles or something. Hopefully, they show up. 🤞

#118 ·
They should show up. Are you sure you set the VehConfig 1 setting? There are two “Special Package” settings, and I’ve found the one in VehConfig 1 is the one which controls this. But you may just set both of them to WD SRT as it won’t hurt anything.

Will do! How long is a sleep cycle, is it literally what it sounds like? Basically overnight?
Doesn't need to be overnight. Just leaving the vehicle off, without opening any doors, for some time ... maybe an hour? Not sure on the exact timeout.

Hmm, yes, I think so. This is what the settings were:

Just to confirm ... after selecting "WD SRT" in the dropdown, you then clicked "START" followed by whatever that button changes to for completion, right?

After clicking "Start", it should change the text to tell you what the setting is currently set to, before giving you the option to finalize it.

#123 ·
That's correct. I even did it a second time and it said the settings were already there so I figured I'd fumbled my way through correctly. I went out & checked it late last night & still no helmets so maybe it'll take a couple drive cycles as well.

It's weird that changes take time to take effect. Even Arduino is instant! This UConnect stuff seems hinky at best. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Worse case, you disable "Connected Services" in ECUConfig 18, and then do a factory reset. Just take pictures of all the profile setting screens and any radio presets 1st, so you can set it all back up exactly how you have it now. I've had to do that a few times, and I always take the pics so I can set my wife's profile back to exactly how she has it.

#125 ·
Ah, ok. Sort of a "nuclear option". Lol! Fortunately, I haven't got much settings wise, I mostly run Spotify Premium & the few local radio stations so that shouldn't be too much trouble.

The factory reset is through the Uconnect itself, correct? Like a 'return to default settings' option?

#126 ·
Yeah, it's in settings, all the way at the bottom of the list ... something like "Reset Options" and in there, you can choose to reboot or factory reset the unit.

#128 ·
Well, still no helmets after a couple days & drive cycles.
So far I've:
• Changed VehConfig1: Special Pakage to WD SRT
• Changed VehConfig2: Special Pakage to WD SRT
• Several soft resets of the UConnect
• One factory reset of the UConnect
• Checked both themes In UConnect (which don't show any differences between the 2)

I haven't tried disabling the connected services because I figured that unless I see a change & don't want the car to phone home to revert it, it wouldn't really matter. I could be completely wrong about that, though.

I guess my helmet guys are just gone forever. I'm so bummed. 😔

Thank you again for trying to help me.

Good to know!
I called the dealership and the service writer told me he'd call me back. Of course, he didn't so I called again 3 days later & he exasperatedly told me to 'swing by' & he'll take a look. He wouldn't schedule an appointment, only do a quick drop-in.

When I called, I specifically told him the software version that's on my Uconnect vs the one my paperwork said my car was updated to, and the issue I'm having (climate guys lost their helmets). When I got there, he hopped into my car, pushed a few buttons on the Uconnect, and went "see, the helmet guy is there" (while rolling his eyes). He went to the little avatars you can choose for your profile & said "that's the helmet guy you're looking for".

I said, "I don't care about an avatar, I specifically told you I was talking about the figures on the climate control screen and it's related to the quarter-assed software update they did last week; THAT is why I wanted to schedule an appointment, not 'drop by real quick'".

I do not live near the dealership and this is now the third time I've had to go there since the end of September because this clown is giving me the dumb girl treatment and refusing to listen to anything I'm telling him. After all, surely I have no clue.
I build classic cars and motorcycles as a hobby, I know how to articulate what I need. My communication skills are far better than this pantload's listening skills.

I even asked him to push an OTA update to my car so I didn't have to come in again, he gave me a blank look then completely ignored what I said. Long story short, I had to schedule an appointment for this Monday and waste yet another few hours sitting in the lobby while they mess my car up some more. Yes, I'm pretty salty over this.

You can just show him the service notes from the previous visit:

It calls out a 2-step update process, where they update it 1st to S26.15, then from there they update to T27.39. Then show him the uConnect version on your screen, where it clearly shows S26.15.

So obviously the tech who was responsible for the software update only did the 1st step.

I'm really surprised changing the Special Package didn't bring the helmets back. If I change Special Package from WD SRT to the standard RT setting, the helmets go away. Putting it back to WD SRT brings them back for me.

Maybe the S version of the firmware is preventing them from appearing, even when the Special Package is set. If the S version was never meant for an SRT, I could see that being the case.

Why don't you try upgrading to T25.48 yourself, and see if the helmets don't come back with Special Package set to WD SRT? The dealership will still be able to upgrade you to T27.39 even if you 1st upgrade yourself to T25.48 .... since T27 is newer than T25.

The update is very easy to do ... just copy the file to a USB stick and plug it into a USB port. This is even how the dealership does it. They download the file, put it on a USB stick, and manually perform the update just as you would at home.

I brought the paper in when I went and showed him. He implied I didn't understand what I was reading.
Basically, I think what happened is the tech popped the first update in & walked away. When he came back, it said finished or something and he called it a day not knowing just the first update was finished, not the whole job.

I was under the impression you can only go forward with the updates, not backward. If that is the case, since I have the 26.15 I couldn't go to 25.48. Am I wrong about that?

So sad as this is the typical Dodge dealer service offered. @DodgeCares please report back to the mother ship that the dealer network is helping destroy the brand.
Your dealers don't care!

Oh! Ok! Great info! Thanks!
Do you know where I could get a clean version of the T25.48?
I posted a link earlier in this thread:

If you want to update yourself to the T25.48 Durango version, you can download the file here: MY23.T25.48 Download

Just put the zip file on a USB stick and insert it into a USB jack, the uConnect will automatically prompt for the install. Do not unzip the file ... just copy it to the USB stick.

Doing so will not preclude the dealer from installing T27.39 in the future if you so desire.

So, I brought my car in today. Mr. Charmschool, the service writer, told me that "the update took, but the car didn't know to use it, so we fixed it". Um, ok.
I do have my helmets back but the version still shows S26.15, not T27.39. I don't understand how the version shows the same but it looks completely different. Whatever, I'm facepalming myself half to death with this. I guess I'll just leave it be unless it starts acting weird again and then I'll take it to the dealer across the state line. Maybe they have techs...

Or maybe I can just get the T27.39 version & install it myself at some point but for now, I have my helmet guys back.

Helmets! 🤩🤪😛😋

They will send you to another dealer which should be fine. I think Dodge locked down the firmware big time after the Ram guys kept getting new versions of it, most likely off of dealerconnect. If they suggest another dealer, have them (Dodge Cares) schedule it on your behalf. That way the dealer knows they are involved just in case the other joint fired their tech who now works for this new dealer. LOL

Yep, they really screwed us over when they did that. Would be amazing if they just supported their own system instead of making it so painful we went hunting for firmware ourselves.
