UAQ Head unit for 14-16 (Because 17's can just use them)

So I talked to Joel Webner at infotainment.com today about us Gen3 folks with the older ra3/4 units, getting the new UAQ units that the 2018 have, with the better display, faster processor, and LTE connectivity. He said that they're working on it, and hoped to have them available this month or next month. While i'm not sure what the cost will be, I do know that the same upgrade for the 1500's and chargers are around 1300, and require a new usb/sd cluster to go along with it.

For awhile, they were struggling with getting the cooled seats and a few other features working on older vehicles (at least for the 1500 and charger), but they managed to work it out and create a package for the upgrade that's a simple plug and play.

The 17's use the same vehicle callbacks that the 18 do. All dodge vehicles 16< make different calls for a few things such as cooled seats. On the charger they got custom units from Panasonic (I believe it's Pana or pioneer) that made the correct calls to the equipment. They also had an obd programmer that you needed to use once but they've not disclosed what that's for, though I suspect it's to bypass some security.

Infotainment.com now has the UAQ swap listed for the 14-17 on their website.

If you want a UAQ, which has the NAV built in, they are asking $1599.95 (plus shipping).

While I really want to do this, I’m not sure I want to do it $1600 worth.

I could do that, but I actually do like having the stock map display when I don’t want to use phone data.

One issue is that it seems, according to the Jeep guys, that you may lose connectivity when switching to the UAQ on the older vehicles. I’m not sure it’s worth the money AND losing functionality. Plus, in addition to the $1600 buy-in, 2014 owners will need the $170 4C converter so our heated/cooled systems operate.

If it was around $1300 all in, I’d probably consider it. But $1770 is a bit too much.

No OTA updates, no LTE, no uconnect control via cellular.

It seems to be exclusively a problem on the ‘14’s I think.

They charge 10% more if you want a 1yr warranty.

Okay so we’ve established that the UAQ/UAS units are plug and play with 16-17 models as long you also swap out the hub. With that said, you might as well buy one yourself that’s brand new instead of going thru infotainment and getting a refurb. I don’t know the exact part numbers for the Durango model but the Jeep and Ram versions can be found online for under $1200 new and the usb hubs are $50ish. Add the fact that you could probably get at least $400 (I believe even infotainment will buy your current model nav) for your current nav it seems worth it. The Uconnect phone app never worked for me anyway and over the air updates aren’t a big deal since you can do them yourself manually.

ETA: I believe all the UAQ units for the Jeep, Durango and Ram have the same part numbers and thus are all the same units. I need the part number from a UAQ from a 2018 Durango to cross reference with the Jeep UAQ model number which is 68331631AH.

The 14 will work, but you need Infotainments 4C adapter that converts the CAN commands.

I haven’t found a good answer if the screens are universal or not, or what needs to be “programmed” with the VIN. The latter seems like BS marketing by Infotainment.
