I have another perplexing (to me) issue with my D. Last winter the turn signals started giving me issues (when I'd move the lever either way, the signal would flash a few times and then stop.) Sometimes, if I had to wait a bit to make the turn, the signal would start flashing again. This happened on occasion but then became more frequent and progressed to the point where, when I?d move the lever, it?d only flash two to four times and then stop. Now they won't come on at all.

The 4-way hazards work without issue and I can hear the relay under the dash (that?s what I think it's) clicking when I move the lever either way. Yesterday, for the first time in weeks, the right signal came on for two flashes and then stopped (I can see the dash indicators when they come on.) I'm at a loss as it doesn?t seem that temperature, motion, engine running or not seem to make a difference. I've checked the fuses in the dash and under the hood and they all appear to be normal.

Any thoughts or ideas??

Thanks!

UPDATE
I did a lil more research and think it's the hazard/turn signal relay. I assumed that once it was bad, it was always bad, but I've read that's not always the case. I'll head to the parts store and pick one up. Hopefully that'll get my signals back.

I was gonna say check the relay, but ya beat me to it. :D If that doesn't work, my next guess would be to look for loose connections at the switch or the switch itself.

Thanks all! That was my first thought, but I'm REALLY hoping that's not it because it's a REAL pain to remove. I'll update tomorrow when I get it back together.

UPDATE
The replacement relay did the trick! It's quieter than the stock one too.

Nice to hear. Did the old one look damaged or hot at all?

The old one doesn't have any real indication that it's bad. I don't know what a "bad" relay looks like, but I'd think melted, arced, etc. would be in there somewhere.

In the older days I had a 30 amp relay on my 4 Hella off-road lights and the black capsule was melted/distorted when it went bad.

Different animal. This is actually the flasher for the turn signals, not a relay as you mentioned.

What relay did you switch out I am having the same problems with my Durango and I only found a hazard/turn amp I don’t have a hazard/turn relay

the one in his pictures is the lowest possible "relay" in the dash panel. and fyi, the first gen rangos are a complete flustercluck with their fuse/relay system. i have a 99 5.2 4x4 and i have found 2 relays, 1 flasher and 6 fuses that any one could cause the signals to not work.
