So the other morning while heading to work. My transmission acted like it wasn't fully engaging. From a complete stop letting off the brake and pushing on the gas the car would start to creep forward but not go like it should and the RPM's would get up to about 3-4k. Then it would finally start going. It wouldn't clunk or anything but it would take awhile before it really got going. Then I get onto the highway and going about 60 the RPM's went up to about 5-6k and it wouldn't shift up again. After letting off the gas and pushing it again a few times it finally shifted.

I got to work and turned the car off then back on and went around a few blocks and it hasn't done any of that since. But, I also have noticed a whinning almost supercharger sound while accelerating from a stop.

I'm at about 125k miles and I had the transmission flushed and filter replaced at the begging of the year just under 100k miles. Also at about 113k Miles I had to have the Condenser / Trans cooler replaced as it was leaking.

Any ideas? I'm most likely going to take it in and have it checked out the end of next week. But I'm also tempted to just trade this thing in at this point with the issues I've had... (Bad rear shocks though the 2013 didn't have a recall like the 11/12 and other's did, fuel pump went out, the trans cooler and other little things all in less than 2 years of ownership...) Even though I'll most likely have negative equity and have to roll that into the next one...

How much trans fluid did you lose when the condenser went bad? When mine went, I only lost a few drops but I was still fanatical that the dealer make sure it had the proper amount in there after the repair.

Your symptoms sound like the fluid is low, and I'd certainly verify that the transmission has the proper level of fluid in it before pointing my finger at the transmission itself being bad.

On these transmissions, they aren't built with a dipstick. If you don't have a mechanic you COMPLETELY trust, you can buy the dipstick you need here:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/TRANSMISSI...327-/122575286552?epid=168925867&hash=item1c8a0e7118:g:BrAAAOSwurZZNwbT&vxp=mtr

And check it yourself. If you go to any Joe Blow mechanic and describe your symptoms and sound even remotely like you don't know what the problem is (like you do now) you can almost guarantee they'll tell you you need a new transmission. So try checking the fluid level first.

If the fluid level is proper, maybe it just needs a flash/software update - I am no Mopar tech but I do know that a flash with a StarScan tool can do wonders. In the end it really is possible that your trans is going bad.

Bottom line - DON'T drive it like that for long. It's slipping and slipping is bad. If the fluid is just low you can save it if you top it off immediately. Don't delay. Make sure you let us know what ends up happening.

So I checked the fluid and it was empty. I mean nothing showed up on the dipstick at all... I added enough to get it to the fill point on the dipstick per the graph/paperwork that comes with it. It has made it better it seems. Though I'm not sure how long it was without. I also don't have a clue how it was empty as I have no fluid puddle in my garage or my spot I park at work. I'm wondering if last time I had it in the dealership to have the Trans cooler replaced if they even actually filled it... I have no way to prove that or even know for sure if that is what happened.

I'm going to take it to another dealer (as luck sees it my brother just recently got a service tech job at another Dodge dealer near me) and have it checked/serviced there and see how it goes.
