I need new rubber on my '05 D and figured I may as well go bigger so I'm looking to crank the torsion bars up 1-2" and put new more aggressive/larger tires on the stock rims. I saw these torsion bar keys for leveling Durangos that say they add 2.25" in height and you can fit 33's. Any input?

I think I'll just raise it about 2" with the stock torsion bars. I'm looking at 245/75R17 BF Goodrich Mud Terrain T/A KM2 tires which are about 31". Any input?

For now I'm stuck with the stock rims; can't swing new ones right now. I have been looking at larger tires, between a 32 or 33, and like the BFG mud terrains, Coopers and Firestones.

I've narrowed it down to 285/70R17 or 255/75R17 and both are about 32". Just can't make up my mind yet on brand?? I'm looking real hard at the BFG's and Firestone Destination MT's.

I'm getting the brakes done next week and will crank up the torsion bars then, not sure if I'll go 6 or 8 turns. I'm going with 265/70R17 Cooper STT M/T's on my stock alloy wheels. They're on sale at Sears for $215/ea not including installation.

UPDATE
After the front brakes were replaced today, I did 6 turns on the torsion bars. New tires are on order and should be here and installed along with an alignment this week.

Well the Cooper STT's were put on today (along with an alignment) and, while I like the looks of them, I'm disappointed in the noise. They're much louder than I thought they'd be and I only went with Cooper because they were supposed to be the quieter of the mud terrain tires. My wife hasn't seen/heard them yet? oh well. They do handle very well, but no real difference noticed from the Goodyear SRA's that were original on it.
