Took a 1000 + mile trip on my D

Just took a 2 week trip on my D and drove a little more than 1000 miles. We where 6 people together and the D did pretty good. We went to the West Fjords in Iceland and the roads there are the worst in Iceland mostly mud or gravel roads. I had to lower the air pressure in the tires and drive carefully and, since the shocks weren't in so good shape before the trip, they're in no shape now so I have ordered new Monroe Sensa Trac. Was going to go for Bilstein, but no one on eBay would ship them to Iceland (but I think I'm ok with the Sensa Trac.) I also lost my front license plate, one center cap and the brake caliber on the front passenger side came loose, but I had tools with me so I was able to fix that. The nature up there's amazing! We rented a cabin and the trip was fantastic. I've been there many times as a salesman, but the rest of the people with me had never been there. Anyway, here are some pics.

The Monroe's are a good second choice. Great pics. You live in a very beatiful country.

Thanks! The Volcano stopped erupting in June so we're still here. :D Thanks for asking.

Wow, very nice! only 1000 miles in 2 weeks?? I just got back with my family after a week of driving. We did 3800 miles.
Yeah I know we're lazy. hehe Let me tell you though, these roads where just like off road? top speed sometimes was only 10 mph. But we also liked to kick back and relax in the pool or the hot tubs.

Nice pictures Siggi! Thanks for sharing them. While looking at the ones with your truck, I was thinking, "Gee, for a black vehicle, it was staying pretty clean while driving on dirt/gravel roads. Just a little dusty on the rear hatch/door." Then I saw the last picture! Have you got it cleaned up since you got home?

Thanks Jim, Yeah I'm always cleaning it even on the trip, I don't like it when my D's dirty. hehe Plus, when it's black with dirt on it and someone walks by and touches it, it'll scratch since the dirt acts like sandpaper. So I'm very active on the cleaning and waxing to protect it from the salty air I live in.

Good for you Siggi. I can relate. I hate a dirty vehicle too! I'm not quite as obsessive as I was when I was younger, but I still keep my vehicles cleaner than most people. People think I'm crazy for cleaning my D and our cars so often, but I enjoy cleaning them.
