Hi, after fixing a grey 2002 4.7 i bought this orange beast. A 1999(2000 model) 5,9 SLT+
Run 295.000 kms and runs on petrol and gas(LPG) I am a dutchmen living in Ålesund Norway.
Had to fix quite a bit the last couple of months, like changing front brakes, waterpump, belt, exhaust and governer solenoid since it was not shifting. Also a bunch of sensors. Became a good client of Rockauto this year😊👍
Soon time to put the spiketires on, first snow fell on the mountains.

Wow! Good safety color. That is one bright Durango. That would be hard to miss on the side of the road.

Gonzo:
Welcome to DDN. You might be our first member from Norway. Two things come to mind when I see that color.
The first, is that it needs a big 01 on the doors, ala The Dukes of Hazzard! The second, since I live in SW Ohio, is GO Bengals!!!!!

@Gonzo Norway you could paint 2 brown and 1 white stripe down the middle and you would have a rolling Cleveland Browns (NFL) football team helmet rolling down the road!!

Ha, i love orange since im dutch and orange is the the dutch national color. Actually the color of our royaltie family with origins in Orange in the south-east of France. Thats why our natonal sportteams and supporters wear orange. I married a norwegian and live here for 14 years now but a big part of me will allways be dutch.

Managed to fuck up the windowmechanism in the driversdoor. Wanted to open the window but it was frozen. Yes bloody dum of me especially since i told my kid many times he should never do that...
I heard a snap and heard the mecanism going down but the window stayed Up. Put the mecanism up again( just moved it down a bit) and left it.
My question is , is there a piece that brakes in this cases and is it easy to get? Cant find it on Rockauto.

You might get lucky and just snapped the lever off of the track. You will need to pull the door panel to see what actually happened.

Gonzo:
I have learned that Gen 1, 2, and likely now Gen 3 windows should not be opened (or attempted) when it's likely they are frozen.
I've been in the McDonald's drive thru many a time, having to open the door to order and receive my goodies due to frozen windows.

Fixed the driversdoor window today. Easy fix. It just popped out of the rails where it sits in rubber. Could have just pushed it back probably but took of the doorpanel to see what i was doing. Didnt take more than 15 min.
Nice working in the warm sun with good old AC/DC ,if you want blood.... (live) on my upgraded stereo.
Old rock still rocks! (RIP Bon)

Good morning Gonzo:
Acca Dacca, LOL!!!!!!!!!!

My go to song, and fav by AC/DC is Thunderstruck!
If the sound system in question can play it clearly at decent volume, I judge the system to be pretty good.
The Beats system in my '14 Charger R/T does it well!

Hi @Gonzo Norway is that an authentic (Setina) push bar?

If yes, is it legal in Norway?

Norway is not in the EU, so this information is not very helpful for me, but maybe there is a way to have a legal real push bar over here.
I really want to have one 😎
For political reasons.

btw. this is in EU, but not crucial, because this Durango is in special service, too, so with other rules as for private cars

🤫 there is a secret tipp:
attach it and🖕

Otherwise today I was pulled out by the cops for the first time after many years 😞

Changed the axleshaft seal. Whole axle came out, not only the outerpart. That resulted in that i had to remove the shockabsorber for the nessesary space. The 2 parts i got separated on the workbench. The seal itself was easy.
Unfortunately i found the upperballjoint shot so had to order a new one. Will come tomorrow i hope. My 2 year technical inspection runs out end of the week and no way he would pass with that balljoint. But after changing it and the lower balljoint on the left (shot rubber) he should pass. So gotta work a bit on him this week and see if i can get an inspection next week.

Hi Gonzo:
It's been a while. Was the leakage a drip, or more like a seep. Seeping is not normally an emergency, but if that would cause you to fail the inspection, that moves it up the importance ladder. The Gen 1 Durangos were known for being tough on the upper ball joints. There was a recall for them that included my then 2001 SLT Plus.

Got the beast approved for 2 years in september.
Did a 600 km trip last saturday with a trailer to pick up a camper. The thing was cheap but too much waterdamage so left it.
Me and my mate got a nice day driving anyway and the beast enjoyed the trip as well. +13 C at home at the coast
but inland a bit of snow and just a few degrees
