Tazer - Anyone tried to use it on a Durango?

No, not the thing police (taser) fire into the neighborhood baddies... I'm talking about this thing:

http://www.zautotech.com/tazer.html

I just bought that for my new 2015 Charger Scat Pack I picked up yesterday. The Scat Pack compliments the Durango quite nicely (Bright White Durango, Ivory White Pearl Charger) and it sure as hell is fast! :)

However I was checking out some posts related to the Charger and people were talking about how additional options could be enabled in uConnect and the EVIC using this "Tazer" device. After thinking it over and the fact the Scat Pack is damn near a full SRT car - I wanted the rest of the bells and whistles in the infotainment system. So I bought it.

I sent them an email and asked if it would support the 2014 Durango, since they say they support the 2015 Durango. They responded and said it should work, but if not to let them know and they'll work with me on a firmware update to fix it. Pretty neat - not sure what it will do. However one feature was "100% RWD on an AWD vehicle". HMM......... :)

I did a quick search here and came up empty handed. I will post an update when I receive the device and will let you guys know what, if anything it does on my 2014 Durango R/T AWD.

Found out today the TaZer must remain plugged in for the Nav in Motion to work. I unplugged it for a trip to the dealer, and tried the nav on the way, and it was locked out.

The Lightshow has 6 different modes. Here's a few sitting in my garage.

I emailed the company yesterday & the owner got back to me very quickly. Here are some answers that he gave me:

1. No group buy at this time--he wants to get a good list of features for the Durango before he offers a group buy.
2. Tazer must be plugged in for line lock, force RWD, light shows & navigation in motion to work.
3. He is looking for someone in Long Island with a '14-'16 Durango that will leave their Durango with him for a couple nights for developmental purposes--he will give that person a free Tazer. I'm checking with my co-worker to see if he can do it--if he can't, someone pm me who is willing to do it.

The device is very cool, but I don't want something plugged in all the time. Hopefully, after he has a test Durango to use, maybe he can change that.

Being plugged in all the time isn't an issue. It's small enough to not even notice it. You could get an OBD-II extension cable and/or 'Y' adapter as well and mount it wherever you like; but it's really not necessary.

I take a pic later today and show you what it looks like when plugged in.

Here is a pic from the driver's point of view:

Here is one from the seat bottom:

And here is one from the floor board:

As you can tell, it's not easily visible when plugged in.

That's not at all what I expected it to look like. Not too bad I guess. The light show isn't quite what I was going for either. I'm still thinking I'd like one of these. If I have to look at a brake controller, then I guess this won't bother me either

Wish I was closer as well. But hopefully some one will drop off theirs and we can finally get all the SRT stuff.

Any idea where in LI he is located? I might be able to do it. My biggest hurdle would be getting a ride home & back to pick my truck up. My nephew got something similar for his 13 Charger RT from a guy in Suffolk County. I will have to check with him to see if it is a Tazer in his car. He did some R&D with the guy to work some bugs out. His is pretty cool, all the SRT stuff works including the performance timers. I'd be down, if he could get those working. I am definitely not a fan of the light show and would never use that feature. I am also very interested in the Nav in motion feature, & would buy one in the group buy for that alone.

Ya, the Lightshow doesn't do anything for me either. I had planned to return it within the 30 day window, but the nav in motion feature makes it worth keeping for me. To be honest, the line lock can be fun too, but on rare occasion.

I bought in hopes of getting the performance pages working, and am hopeful he can figure that out.

Cooden,
From what I remember from seeing on my nephew's Charger RT, it had 0-60 times, 1/4 times & skid pad results(measures g forces). On his car, being there is a Charger SRT these pages were able to be enabled. Not 100% sure if they can be enabled on our trucks, but would totally be worth it IMHO. Think GTech thrown in on top of the other features this has for only $250, makes this real appealing. You can probably do a quick search for SRT performance measuring for more accuracy.

Just got mine the other day and used it for the Fog Light and DRL Drop out and will use it for the In Motion Nav once I get my OBDII splitter cable. Didn't realize it will add the SRT display pages so will do that too. I have e mailed the owner as well to try and find out if he has made any other progress with the SRT pages and try and get him motivated to get it figured out. I know a lot of people are interested in that feature (myself included), so hopefully it doesn't take too much longer to get unlocked.

One thing I noticed with the SRT pages in that video posted was the extra guages for A/F, Intercooler Temp, boost, ect. Was wondering if anyone would know once it has been unlocked where those could be wired up for a future supercharge so that it would show up there and function properly without the need for a separate dash guage. Also is there a stock A/F ratio sensor that would show up? Any insight?

BTW I am working with a local shop near me that knows RIPP to get the supercharger kit confirmed for 2016 5.7L Hemi Models, as of now it is just working with up to 2015.

I know the SRT pages do not work on my 2016 they dont even show up, but still is awesome to get other things like 0-60, SRT splash screens, nav in motion, no DRL drop, no fog drop, line lock, he has also helped with my floor shifter setup. I'm more than happy with my purchase and who knows what will be unlocked in the future...

Nope nothing.. I get the drivers page but can't do anything with it.

two other valuable features are "Fogs staying on with high beams" and also "DRL staying on with blinker". These two features do not require the Tazer to remain plugged into the ODB-II port either. Plug it in, set the features, then you can remove it.

The Nav in motion requires the Tazer to remain plugged in though.

I believe you have to contact him directly to show you how to unlock it for in motion. As he has it set not to work in motion for security.

If I remember right, it's a setting within the Z Automotive Utility. Plug the Tazer into your PC, then open the utility and connect to it. There's a setting to enable "Lightshow in Motion".

from the site: Light Shows: Perfect for car shows and parades. (can be unlocked for in-motion use, only for legal emergency use. Contact tech support for instructions)

I know mine has the ECO mode off option I havent played with it much....
