Full kit? Looks great!

I have the same kit for my Charger sitting in my basement waiting for the snow to melt.

I've never worked with vinyl before. Hopefully I don't screw up the install.

I thought about doing my 3rd brake light also, but it would stick out too much in contrast against the Redline 2 color. On yours it looks great, black on black, I like it.

I installed the kit on my Charger as well, it is super easy compared to the Durango. The outside curve of the outer two DD taillights was kinda a pain, on the DC they are flat. Probably spent more time cleaning the taillights off than I did putting the vinyl on.

Looks really good. How does the light come through? The light is so dang bright without anything on it, I would imagine it's fine with some tint.

 

Here is the Luxe on my R/T with the 4 ways on. Slightly overcast day.

Thanks guys. The light comes through very well. I have a friend with a brand new black RT. Parked next to him yesterday. Should have got a picture. You could see a very slight reduction in light, but barely. I was actually surprised it wasn’t more.

 

I see kits that are just for the inside portion too. Wonder how that would look on the Octane Red.

I'm trying to find the pics. I have seen one either on here or on one of the FaceBook forums. It looks good. That kit is also a much easier install from what I understand also. I have watched the YouTube videos on the inner kit from Luxe.

Not my Durango (mine's all black), but I saved this pic a few years ago when I thinking about tinting.

Saw them post your ride on IG today I am debating waiting for the CF tint to come out in May but I really love the Dark smoke. Mine is white so I think it could look good either way. Good job looks nice!

 

I want to do the full wrap like this, how did they wrap the Dodge letters in the middle of the taillight? Just stretch it really tight?

If they did what I did, they pulled the "Dodge" lettering off of the assembly. They literally pull off with a pair of pliers. Or they could have done the Plasti-Dip route.

Looks kinda wonky to me with no letters in there. Like the DODGE “lettering” (indentation really) is too fat.

Try the Plasti dip route first, the spray can isn't very expensive. And if you find that works, your good, if not, the stuff peels off pretty easily.

Having this done on Weds and they are telling me they won't be able to go over the letters, what/how did they do it on yours?

 

My letters were removed, painted black and replaced after tint was done.

They don’t go over the letters. To get that look you just remove the Dodge lettering. The word Dodge in indented into the light housing.

On the red photos you are correct, but on the first photos of the black SRT it is over the lettering somehow.....that's the look i want to replicate on mine.

 

Reflective concepts makes decals that go over the letter. They have a good amount of stuff for the Durango. Officially licensed by Mopar too. I just received my valve cover decals Friday.

The company I had do my tinting of the lights is having trouble to keep the film laying flat, do you happen to know what brand film they used on yours or have the name of the company that did it that we could call to get some help up here in Massachusetts? Thanks

 

They used Luxe universal tint. It’s been great so far!

I finally saw the Luxe tint on a charger today at work. Those of you that have it, the outline doesn’t bother you? I was all in until I saw them in person and now I’m kind of in the fence about them.

 

I don't care much about it now, but in the beginning it bugged me. From a few feet away, it isn't really noticeable. Still makes the rear end look good, you just have to look past the outline up close.

Shared your info on the film, might want to get the shop number if they have more questions.....i'm close to peeling it off and getting my money back.

 

Well, after hearing some of your complaints I went with Vvivid Tail Light tint. It’s a whole sheet so will try and cut it as close to the LED racetrack as possible to avoid this “line” some of you were complaining about.

Will let y’all know how it turns out. Seen some YouTube videos and seems like DIY friendly.

I put the luxe kit on my 18 R/T and had some issues. i practically destroyed the practice sheet and still had little confidence it would be done to my liking. Went ahead and put it on anyway since I couldn't return it with parts missing. the outer lights are a PITA! The first one will have to be redone. By the end I had a better system, but still not to my liking. I had the kit that only covers the parts inside the halo. i was unhappy with the way they lined up and feel like you will have to do some modification. I ended with a few small creases in the film. I'm going to ride it out through the winter and figure it out when the weather warms and I have some more cash. I have tinted tail lights in the past with traditional tint film and it was always coming off. I was hoping the vinyl would be better. From a few feet away it look nice, but I know where the flaws are and keep staring at them. Its good enough for now, but I will be looking for something better soon. Liked the idea of tinting the 3rd brake light. I tinted the mirror turn signals with scrap from the tail tints and it looks nice.

Was on the Luxe site today, looks like there tint kit only covers the inside portion of the light. From your picture it looks like you tinted the whole thing including the "halo", what did you use to tint the halo part?

Has the tint held up ok over the last year?

 

Mine uses there universal tint kit. You have to cut it.

It has held up great. Looks virtually brand new.

For the red decals that go over the SRT logos from reflective decals.com, what red option did you guys choose? Red or reflective red? I want to get ones that match the 392 on the side but not sure which one it is.
