I have a 98 D with the 5.2 and 110,000 on it. I'm wondering what plugs would be best for me. I put in the Bosch Platinum 2 plugs about 25,000 ago, and they're smooth, but would like to try something else, just for the heck of it any suggestions? I know the autolite was talked about before, which ones of the autolite series is the better ones (they have a couple) also Is there a certain brand cap and rotor to go with. I know Autozone has the valucraft and the duralast. Will a better cap and rotor give me any performance? Thanks

Cap/Rotor

Go with NAPA brass cap and rotor. Not a performance item, but a longer lasting more conductive part. :D Price is right too.

Plugs? I run Autolite 3923s for a whopping $1.77 for 2 at Wally World. HTH

I'll maybe make a trip to wally world then. Thanks for the input guys. Is it a good idea to replace my cap and rotor if it's running fine? I don't know that they've ever been changed so I just thought it'd be wise to do it. I suppose new wires are probably in order too?

Butch,

I replaced just my wires, when my old wires seemd fine BTW, and, other than knowing I had new wires, everything seemed the fine/same. **Then**, 60 days later I switched the OEM rotor & cap that had 45K miles on them for a new OEM ones. There was a difference in performance and response. Also, I couldn't believe the wear and tear on the inside of the used cap.

Verdict? change the cap. Your choice of OEM or AM.

Agreed

3923 Autolite Plugs and a good cap and rotor (all brass contact points inside.) Napa Gold are great as well.

Thanks again guys I'll pick up the stuff, as for now I have to go bolt my tranny cover back on and fill up the fluid! I'm going to check the band adjustment too. I think the 5 dollar drain plug I put in the tranny pan will be well worth it!! messy!!
thanks
