Hi,

01, 5.9 with 110k.

First post, reader for years.

Replaced the wires about 10k ago when having some stuttering issues and, just a few weeks ago, the stuttering came back. So, I replaced the plugs, cap and rotor (they were done at 85K, coppers) and it's slightly better, but still not right. I pulled a few wires tonight and found the plug end of the wire cap on cylinder 1 was black on the inside, the others looked like new. I replaced just that one wire and it seems to have solved my issue.

So I have 2 questions:

1- replace the other wires or keep them for spares?
2- any guesses on why this happened or what I should keep an eye on?

Hello my friend and welcome to the Durango Owners Club :!:

Yes, I'd keep the wires as spares just in case. Chances are you'll never need to look at them again and, with the others being only 10k old and all is working fine again, there's no real reason to risk messing anything up again. Believe it or not, low idle stumble is generally a low voltage situation from a bad/failing battery. If you have any other stumbles, have the battery fully charged and tested under load.
