Hi everyone,
I'm new to these forums and I'm glad I found them.
I have a 2014 Dodge Durango Limited 5.7L AWD with UConnect 8.4A and I happen to be a software engineer/developer.
I'm wanting to know some things so that hopefully I can make an app to do things our devices may be capable of but don't do:
1) What kind of communication can be made through
a) bluetooth?
b) USB?
c) SD Card slot?
2) Is there some sort of debugging mode or service port that can be accessed via (name of) protocol(s) to figure out how to communicate especially with the UConnect 8.4A system?
One of two things I'd like to look into doing is:
1) I want to use a tablet in place of the stock screen while also providing a display mirror of the stock screen and sending user input (touch) data. So, imagine an app with an interface that allowed you to interact as you would on stock but also all the benefits of having a tablet to provide more advanced features.
2) What type of hardware does UConnect run on and also what type of software? I'm eager to find out how much control I can gain using a smartphone/tablet with an app I would make. That or I could build a device using a simple SOC (e.g. raspberry pi) and create the software necessary to leverage UConnect's existing power.
I'm throwing all that out there on the off-chance that someone has any of the above information. I'm grateful to anyone that has documentation on the debug/service use of the UConnect system and/or specifications of the hardware/software.
Oh yeah. I've had my (leased Durango) since January 2014.
Thanks everyone!
