Should I get a R/T instead of the Citadel? (2014 JGC is creeping in my head as well)

Just got quoted $46,359 for a 2014 Citadel V8, Rear Seat Entertainment, Tech Package, Tow Package Black Mopar package (dealer will order). I'm wondering if I should get an R/T instead? Any thoughts? I think its a good deal but I'm not sure. Drove an Overland V/8 JGC tonight, it was pretty sweet as well.

Don't know how big you are on appearance but i went with rt bc of the color match exterior, 20mm tune suspension, and hid lights. Plus additional cost for the wheels. I figured I'll get an after market tow kit for a few hundred since its plug and play on 14s and use an ipad with seat mount for rear entertainment. Who Carries cds/ dvds any more lol. that's probably why they stop making cd players standard. My rt was 45

Hey buddy,

I am not into chrome accents so the decision was easy for me. Plus I really loved the aggressive look of the R/T. The amount of heads that turn when I am out and about. I even had a young guy gassing up his car this week call over to me to compliment my D. Good feeling!! I paid less than you have been quoted for my R/T and it's AWD, has nappa, tech, 2nd row, tow etc. All the same as you bar the DVD. The JGC's are awesome also. I did look at them but my wife and I decided we needed the extra seating as we already have one 5 seat SUV in the family.

Good luck!!

BTW JadesMarine - I was informed by my Dodge dealer that Chrysler has not released the tow kit yet for the dealers. My dealer thought the '13 kit would fit but needs to remove the bumper to fit! There are aftermarket kits out for the D. These mount down low.

Yea I'm waiting for the dealer to carry the tow kits for the 14s. I just couldn'tspending an extra grand right of the bat for the tow kit since i don't need it right now. I love my rt. I was worried at first trading in my 12 lifted ram sport but now i know I've made the right choice after driving it from Indiana to California. i think the rt is the only way to go with all the standard features.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I guess I'm trying to figure what is the major difference between the R/T and the Citadel besides the suspension, roof rails, and chrome accent. Price wise the Citadel is about 1400 more expensive (almost $2000 msrp). Where is that 1400 going towards? Honestly I think I prefer the blacked out look of the R/T to the chrome on the Citadel, not sure I need the rails, so what else would I be missing on the R/T? I used the USAA Truecar App to price out the R/T with: Premium Nappa Leather Group (AJG), Rear DVD Entertainment Center (AEK), Technology Group (ADG), Trailer Tow Group IV (AHX), Power Sunroof (GWA), Radio: Uconnect 8.4an AM/FM/Bt/Access/Nav (RA4), Mopar Exterior Appearance Group (ALB), Wheels: 20" X 8.0" Polish/Painted Aluminum (WRK) for $44,913.

As everyone else has answered: The R/T is a sportier version designed to look and perform on a sportier level. The Citadel is the luxury version designed to perform just as well, but look more "refined" doing it. Consider the differences (in the past, especially) between Dodge and Chrysler, or Chevy/Pontiac and Cadillac, or Ford and Lincoln. Typically they've all had the same (or VERY similar) things underneath but the badges and trim packages made the difference between a family car, a sporty car, and a luxury car. Do you want something that's blinged out or something that's bad ass? Your choice...

Or, to put it even simpler:

No brainer.......R/T. They are just bad ass plain and simple :)

Call me crazy, but I actually love the look of the Citadel. I think they went the tasteful route with the chrome and the rims are killer. Also, I wasn't super crazy about the ride being lowered with the R/T. I mean, you can't really go wrong with either and at the end of the day it all depends on the deal you can get.

Both are awesome you are correct. It boils down to different tastes. The R/T was for my taste. The Citadel for others. The good news is you can build the Citadel up to pretty much be an R/T with some bling. I'm just not at that chrome stage of my life yet.
