Shift nv244 AWD Transfer Case into Neutral?

Does anyone know how to shift an 01's nv244 awd transfer case in neutral? Manual does not show the "recreational towing" section they reference.

I tried starting the truck, put my foot on the brake, and shifting the column into neutral. Then pushing the neutral button on the transfer for 5 and 15 seconds and nothing. Just some red blinks

Figured it out. Car in run position with key (doesn't need to be on). Took parking brake off (not sure if that was the key). Shifted column to neutral. Then using pen pushed in the neutral button in photo above, held for at least 5 secs and it turned solid red. Meaning neutral was on.
I have the truck off the ground (all four wheels) since I am changing a trans fluid line.

Glad that you solved the puzzle. I have never engaged the Neutral position on either of my Durangos. I had read along the way, that depressing the button, allowed the switch to turn CCW. As they say, we learn something every day.

I actually had the transmission pressure line spring a leak. I was actually doing work on the truck and it happened in the driveway so I guess that was good. The trans fluid leaked big time in the span of a few minutes.

I had a p1740 error (after reading I figure I would try checking the cover plate). I had to drop the transmission pan, pull off the valve body to check if a clip on the top of the valve body had broken. Replaced the clip (cover plate for the pressure boost valve) which wasn't broken with the upgraded "Superior K065 Clip Torque Converter Clutch". This clip has a bigger hole then then OEM one and suppose to fix pressure issues.

I did however find the 3-4 accumulator spring broken. Apparently on the 46RE transmissions this happens and happens often. My transmission feels fine and I maintain my fluid and even have a cooler and aftermarket can filter. Putting this info here for others as a place holder. I only ran the truck for a few minutes after doing all that work but the error (fingers crossed) didn't pop up on the dash. I will know more once I get the line installed.

I can't believe that damn manual is missing the info. Apparently, if you ever get towed you need to put the transmission into neutral BUT also the transfer case. I had to disconnect the yoke near the trans line in order to get the nut off. So needed the truck in neutral. Since I had the truck fully off the floor, and the trans in neutral, I should have been able to spin the wheels easily. I was unable to do it by hand from the yoke which made me think it was the transfer case. But in reality it could have been that I needed to spin the tire for more leverage. But regardless at least now I know how to put the trans case into neutral.

An AWD or 4x4 vehicle should always be put on a flat bed tow truck. They are very common, and it's not worth the risk to do it any other way, IMO.
