So I've been reading through the forums and see everyone recommends the OEM mopar performance hood but I seen a few people mention if the car came with this hood stock it has things under the hood to prevent water damage.

Is there a package you can buy from somewhere that has everything that would be missing if the GT didn't come with the performance hood? If not, is it possible to buy everything necessary or will there still be a risk of damage from adding the performance hood?

I could be wrong but I'm not aware of anything special done under the hood if the DD came with the performance hood vs standard hood. The one possible issue is if one had upgraded to a CAI with an open element air filter it would sit directly under the driver side performance hood vent. If stock like mine the water just falls onto the closed air filter box.

Everything from your old hood should transfer to your new hood except that your sound pad will not have cutouts for the vents.

Ok beautiful. Would living in the pacific northwest with all the rain/moisture be any reason to avoid swapping hoods or nah?

No, the vents don't and haven't posed any issues for anyone yet, whether rain or snow.

I haven't had any issues either. The version of the hood on the charger came factory equipped with a cover over one of the modules directly below the passenger side opening. If memory serves correct, I think it was the ABS module.

Oh yes, the '18 and up performance hood does require the PCM cover.
