Replaced stock fogs with LED pods?

Has anyone replaced the stock halogen fog lights with LED pods?

The stock fog lights on my 2014 are mostly worthless, and the color doesn’t match the stock HID’s.

My first choice would be replacing the whole fog assembly with an LED pod. Are there any that bolt in?

If that’s not an option, what bulbs are people running?

I knew when I ordered my '19 Citadel that the projector fog lights would not be very good (wife's 200 has the same fog lights that are worthless), and of course the miss match color with the HID headlights.

My initial plan was to pick-up a set of the newer LED fogs used on the GT, RT, and SRT; however that plan went off the track when I compared the surrounding bezel shapes, will not work.

So, I had a left over set of H11 5900K Xenon super white 100W bulbs from my 2012 Ram Laramie Longhorn. Installed them the second day I owned the '19, still not that bright because of the projector lens; however at least they are white matching to the HID.

Let us know if you find any LED pod replacements.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee LED foglights are a bolt in, PnP solution. But they’re kind of pricey, around $100 each. Part #68228884AC, there’s a couple people on the Facebook pages who have done it with the TYC ones and they love them. Blows aftermarket pnp led bulbs out of the water.

Diode Dynamics has a great LED fog light bulb, the SLF. If you go the pnp led route, I highly recommend finding some without fans. The fans get all gummed up with dust and whatever else from the road, which causes the LED’s to fail. Diode Dynamics, as well as the Xenondepot ones I had, used heatsinks that were passively cooled. Never had a failure.

Also keep in mind fog lights are NOT supposed to be “bright.” They are supposed to be very wide and very narrow, like the LED ones on the new GT/RT/SRT front end. My 300 has basically the same ones. Way overexposed pic, but you get the idea. Even that close to the garage door my fog lights projected BEYOND the far right edge of the entire garage.

About 9 months ago I replaced the factory fogs on my 15 SXT with the JGC LED units, and they were about $100/each.
Full plug and play, no warning cancelers or extra parts needed; old housing popped out, new one snapped in with no modifications; plugged right into the factory harness and fired up first try. No flickers, no bulb out warnings.
I think mine still need to be aimed correctly, but overall I'm pleased with them.

How difficult was the install? Did the lights come with a pigtail, or did factory wiring just plug right into the back of the light.

Looks like there are aftermarket ones for $70/pair. I’m sure they aren’t as good of quality as the OEM ones, though.

The factory housing has 3 clips, release them and the housing comes right out; replacement matched right up and snapped into place. No pigtail, factory harness plugged right into the new housing. Totally plug-n-play.
Hardest part was:
a) finding time to do it
b) getting my fat ass under the bumper :)

Thanks for the info!

I may take a gamble on the aftermarket fogs, and see how they are. I’m a little surprised that the Morimoto fogs from The Retrofit Source don’t seem compatible with the 2014-2018 Grand Cherokee. Those are $170 for the pair, and are likely super high quality.

I went with aftermarket bulbs that were 5000K and they are a bit too bluish and don't match the factory HID as well as I would have liked. As noted above if you can find aftermarket LEDs in the 4100-4300K range that would be a better match. I may yet end up replacing my aftermarket units with the factory JGC LED units in the Spring.

Installed my aftermarket fogs today. First off, install was super easy. Popped the old stock fogs out with a flat screwdriver popped the new ones in. Total time, 5 minutes. Plugged them in, fired right up, no flicker of anything like that. I can already tell in daylight that these new ones are way brighter than the 6000k 55w hid kit that was in the stock housings. One thing I didn't notice until I installed the new fogs, factory fog lights had frosted lens and these new ones have a clear lens. The clear lens gives the light a much more intense look. I'll fire them back up after dark and see how the light output is compared to the hid kit I had been running.

Took them out for the first time this morning on the ride to work. With DST starting it is back to being dark when I leave. Drove the whole way with just the fogs on, never even needed my headlights. Very bright light output, could see everything no problem. Having done halogen, led replacement bulbs and 55w hid kit prior to this I've got to say these far and away exceed any other bulb setup I've tried. Can't beat them for only $67 and about 5 minutes of install time.

He wouldn't go under $67 when I bought them. They were only listed at $70 at the time. Brand is Winjet.
Interesting. There is another vendor selling the Winjet ones for $69shipped. Maybe I’ll just get those. It would be nice to toss them on when I do my next oil change.
