Anyone tried relocating front license plate and mount it on the grill below? I had bumper replaced and I ended up not drill holes for front license plate, so looking at some options on ebay. Perhaps someone already done this?

I'd be curious to hear from any members we have here that are police that how likely it would be that you got pulled over specifically for no front tag, in states where it is required

Have you thought about a no-drill bracket, something like this: Craig's Custom Mustang Brackets - ignore the "Mustang" part, they list a bracket for 11-14 Durangos. North Carolina doesn't require a front plate, and the dealer didn't mount the plate holder on mine, but I might try something like this if I move to a state that requires one.

You might not get pulled over just for no front tag, but if they stop you (or think about stopping you) for something else, it may be one more ticket they write. I know at a local car show I was helping to run back before I moved off Long Island, there was a group with new Challengers, most of whom had front brackets that could be flipped below the front spoiler so it didn't show when they were on display. A Nassau County cop (they had a couple of vehicles in the show) took a look to insure they all had plates, and probably would have ticketed them if they didn't.

i have driven without front tag for 15 years now in WA and never been pulled over, although my wife did get pulled over in my car for no front license plate, window tint too dark and dark license plate cover in the rear. Got a warning, nothing else. I will still continue driving with tinted windows, but wanted to finally mount a license plate.

Depends a lot on the state. Here in Ohio, they may not pull you over for not having it but they will use it for a reason to pull you over if you are being suspicious. I know a lot of people that have gotten sited for it when they have been driving wreckless and the police could not get them for anything else. It carries a $110 fine here.

My experience in CA and IA is that it depends on the vehicle. I've been cited for no front plate in both states. Usually it's state cops that ticket for it.

IA I had troopers turn around on a two lane twice in a year and cite me in my BRZ, along with citing for window tint. My wife's Wrangler has been going for two years with no front plate and hasn't been pulled over. In CA I went for years without being cited but eventually got nailed along with covered license plate and window tint.

CA, not a big deal, it was a $15 fix-it ticket. IA is not a fix-it, it's an actual fine.

Since the Durango is an attention-grabbing vehicle, I decided to just bite the bullet and put the front plate on, along with forgoing window tint. In CA with the fix-it tickets and cop friends it wasn't a big deal, I'd just get them signed off. Iowa was getting expensive.

I was at a car show with a friend in VA a few years back. A lot of the people there had hide away plate brackets on the front.

Pull it out when you're on the road, slide it under when its parked. Most of them said they leave it down too when driving. The one guy said he got a warning to keep it up when driving. Being in PA I can't comment on personal experience, we're fortunate enough to not have to worry about it but they make up for it with other stupid laws.

I feel your pain as I'm researching this for my new SRT. Unfortunately there many unhelpful posts that don't offer solution suggestions. I'm thinking of crafting a bracket out of 1/8" aluminum perforated flat stock. Would appreciate it if you'd advise regarding your plate mount decision.

Got ticketed 3 times in Southern CA! once in a parking lot not being present (Venice Beach)

Not expensive (<$100) but annoying to go having it inspected.

I couldn't justify spending $90.00 on an aftermarket option and sure as hell wasn't going to drill holes into the bumper, so I created a bracket out of 1/8" perforated aluminum (actually cut it from perforated angle) and a universal license plate frame. I also attached a piece of 1/16" butyl rubber to the back of the frame so it would not mar the bumper. It ain't an engineering masterpiece but it's serviceable and the price was right!

And yes, one WILL get ticketed in the State of Texas if the front plate is not mounted.

Been driving for 8 years now in WI with tinted windows and no front plate and never had a problem... but I am sure if I was driving crazy it would be added to the list.
