Well good news, the wife is asking about Carlisle 2011. It's a 31 hr drive, but at least she's considering it.

One year to persuade her. Just got to figure out what to do with the kids??

A quick starting reference for planning. Remember these are at 55/60 MPH, real world might be a bit less.

I gotta register, every time I think about it, I don't have my wallet. But it's on the calendar, not sure exactly who I'll be 'bringing to the party.

If it looks like my brother-in-law and the boys are coming, I may stay somewhere other than the usual place so I can burn my Hilton points on a suite for me and them.

Hey, HeavyD, if you're coming, you might want to look into this:

The theme for 2011 is Performance! But, we?re not just looking for a few bolt-ons. We want to display the ultimate in performance but we want to represent all eras. If you have a ?50s or ?60s Hot Rod, ?70s Street Machine, ?80s Pro Street or a modern Pro Touring/Resto Mod this is your year. We?ll be putting together an Invitational Display dedicated to performance in Building Y. We?re looking for cars that represent one of the eras listed above and we?re looking for the ultimate in horsepower. If you have a modified, high performance Mopar and would like to have it considered for the Invitational Display, please complete and submit the 2011 Invitational form. All out race cars are welcome to apply.
Your D isn't exactly in the era slots, but surely fits in the 'ultimate in performance' category.

And I certainly hope you're coming 'cuz I could use some scallops.

I once again I received an invitational offer and once again I declined. Not my cup of tea if I'm not outside with my peeps!
Dave will no doubt receive a letter of invitation for this since he placed 1st in class last year.

The following is a post from the Durango/Dakota forum regarding Carlisle 2011. Probably time to start thinking about setting up our game plans. The more we can show attending, the more space we might be able to get.

Carlisle 2011 Fri-Sun July 8-10 Carlisle Fairgrounds, Carlisle, PA. Look for separate thread to start soon. $40 for showfield admission all three days or $10 per day plus parking. If you own a D and can handle companionship, friendship, showing off the D, the heat, good food, a good time checking out the DOC family, and ogling all kinds of classic and modern Mopar products up close at your leisure, then sign up. It's well worth it, especially since you're local. I made it from Minneapolis last year and one of the DOC family made it from California and traded in his transmission and his frequent in the process. A good time for all and well worth the $40
Sorry for being naive here, but we need the $40 package, correct? I saw another package for $30 so and wasn't sure which one I should order.

First time at one of these events so I want to make sure I get the right thing. lol

Thanks

Yes, the $40 "showfield" is what you want.

That gets you and your vehicle onto the showfield for all the days of the event.

The $30 kit is just admission, you have to park off-field and generally don't get to have anywhere NEAR as much fun :)

Correct you want the $40 one, be sure to mention "SHOWFIELD PARKING". I personally called them and talked to the ladies, our primary contact is "Val the gal" but anyone of the ladies can help you. You gave them your credit card info, it gets approved and they send you a receipt. You don't get the actual parking information until around June, but as long as you have the receipt you're good. If for some reason you don't get the parking info prior to the show, you can go to the admission office when you first arrive to get it.

Magic,
We the BOD will be contacting Val in regards to the club's attendance. As individuals you're welcomed to get all signed up, but please make sure and check the area that says "Durango Owners Club".

Yes I saw that and that's what kinda threw me cause the $30 package didn't have that. ;)

Thanks Magic84 for the info. I'll get registered here in a few weeks, my repair on the "D" set me back about $300 today! :wall: :( But well worth it.

Plenty of time and no worries.
We'll make an official post with attendee list in a couple of months or so.
We'll also list hotel information at that time.

I'll get the ball rolling on getting the best rates for a block of rooms somewhere by the end of this week. if anyone's near upstate NY and is bored around this time, I need someone to drive the Ram down! lol :p

Don,
Please look into the Country Inn and Suites place we stayed last year. It was decent, clean, comfortably, and away from crowds.

Or right next door. It's bigger, a little nicer and a change of pace. For the quantity of rooms we get, they SHOULD hook us up for the same rate. $99 singles, $129 suites, breakfast.

OR BETTER!

I'm in again for needing a Thursday, Friday, Saturday night setup.

Agreed, we could try it. I'll call my wife's cousin today as well, she's a Marriott rep.

We have a 6 month lead time and? just a reminder? you stated you wished you had attended more of these with us. Looking forward to seeing you there my friend (mad BBQ skills aside!)

I have to put my name on the maybe but probably not this year. We're camping the week before so it depends on when I get back from New Hampshire and if there's time to clean it. I'd hate to have Gerick show me up on cleanliness.

X2 Every year a bunch say, "I wish I'd gone." Don't wish. It's 7 months or so away, plan for it!

Made my hotel reservation at the Courtyard (fingers crossed on the business schedule.) Oh I'll do the cooking if I make it. Steve, we have to get off the end of the block spot and up to the other end of the street.
