Hey guys . I can't seem to get my coolant system to burp out . I've tried everything I can think of looked at the forums everything it's driving me insane .. it started out i didn't have that great of heat on stage 4 . Replaced the thermostat still the same . Ive tried burping the system like 6 different times . First time I let it warm up and reved at 1500 for 5 or 10 mins let the coolant temp get to 204 degrees ( had my snap on solus edge hooked up so I could monitor everything .) . It was nice and hot . But by the time I made it home (15 min drive ) it had cooled down to the way it was before barely warm almost cold .. so when I got back to work the next day I tried again . This time reving at 2500 rpms coolant peaked 206 at one time .. once again it was nice and hot but by the time I made it home it had cooled off again . So I flushed out the heater core and tried it all again with the same out come. This is driving me insane ! I did notice when I got home that the upper rad hose was scolding hot and the lower was a little warm nothing like the top . Also the same with heater core hoses the one towards the front is scolding hot and the the one towards the rear is only slightly warm . My truck has always been like this . But never once over heated or anything and I let it warm up for 15-30 mins in the morning . It's a 2000 with the 4.7 ( the stupid year with electric and fan clutch ) any ideas please help this is making me insane !!
Thanks in advance!!

Yes I've tried put the front end higher to and still nothing grrrr!

JR:
Does your D have the rear heat option, and did you have both systems cranked on high while you burped it?
I have found that it can take 20-30 minutes of running the engine with the burp screw removed and front end elevated to properly burp a 4.7 cooling system.
Your are correct to run the engine up to 1.5-2K several times during the burping process.

Make sure that you have raised the front of your D so that any air flows up towards the top of the radiator, like on jack stands or ramps. Also, what temp thermostat is in there?

That is best way, get that front end up a bit higher. Burp only thru 1/2" plug not the cap
