As you can see in my signature, we just bought a V6 Durango and was noticing the three modes of driving style. Normal with without turning on or off Sport or ECO mode, Sport mode and then ECO mode off. What is the sequence of operation when ECO mode is on and off? First off, I always turn "Auto on/off" off, the amount of money invested by the manufacturers to give the modern engine and transmission this ability is ridiculous, and only adds to our cost of our vehicles. I see what Sport mode does, and is basically T/H mode. But what about the ECO mode, its not like the Pentastar V6 has the MDS system that the 5.7 has.

ECO mode will cause the transmission to shift conservatively to save fuel. So it will try to keep the transmission in a specific power band and you will probably have quicker shifts and delayed downshifts to accomplish that. The explanation is in your manual.

Ok, I went through the small 60 page 2025 owner handbook, and no reference to the ECO mode, as well as not listed in the index. And the quick start guide only refers to options mine doesn’t have. However I did learn that the Durango has a event data recorder.

Got it, thanks. The manuals today are so abbreviated, your expected to go online and get the manual the manufactures should have printed, after the high cost of vehicles.

My 2023 Harley Trigluide had no manual for the “Boom Box” that controls a lot of functions related to non radio functions. I spent $42K on a Harley and had to wait a year to get a link that had the full manual that cost me $70.00 to have printed so I could use it when I had to look up the button or function on the Boom Box.

It's not common knowledge, but every OB2-controlled vehicle ever built has an EDR, and no, you can't turn it off or "delete" it. Even Class 8 trucks built after 2007 have an EDR that captured crash-related data.
