Vehicle is 2000 Durango Sport, 2wd, 5.2 V8, w/ AC. Probably need to replace positive cable due to corrosion.
???:
1. What path does the cable take from alternator to battery? Can it be rerouted for convenience?
2. I'm thinking the infinite resistance shown on my multi-meter between the alternator (with the cable removed from terminal) and the positive battery cable end means the cable is corroded beyond usefulness. Significant corrosion shows on the battery side of the cable; baking soda solution has removed some external corrosion but all the wire strands in the cable look to still have significant deposits. Is this resistance test meaningful?
3. Basically, how big a job is replacing the positive battery cable?
Thanks for your help,
Gordo
