Howdy Everyone!

I ordered a 2024 DD TnG about a month ago. Got the update that vehicle was built on January 18th. Shipping is still TBD with an estimated delivery of February 12th.

Couple questions... how accurate has the Dodge Order Status website been with delivery dates?
Second... How much wiggle room (if any at all) do you think I can have with negotiating the price on a 2024?
Third... planning on getting a Max Care warranty. If my dealer doesn't price match a plan online, does it matter where we get the warranty?

Here are the pictures of my order sheet and status!! Can't wait to get her!!!

We spoke about the MSRP of the vehicle. That was about it. Didn't know if anyone had experiences with "working" on the price, getting it below MSRP.

Im based out of Texas, so out of state warranties are good all day long. If I cant get the dealership to match the buymoparwarrant dot com price, ill just get it there!
Thanks for the help!

Welcome to DDN. For that kind of money, you should be working on a Durango SRT. That is simply off of the charts!
As VW says, Unless you have some sort of signed agreement, the sales rubes can pretty much run you 6 ways to Sunday.

Good luck with the process and please keep us posted. We have at least 2 good sources here for the MaxCare warranty, so don't buy that without getting them to quote you. You do not have to buy it anytime soon, so don't let the sales rubes run that game on you.

Nope, no signed agreement. Im not worried about the dealer charging over MSRP. Just wondering if I had any wiggle room to get it below. If anyone has experiences with that.
The SRT premium was $92,000 MSPR. A little more than I was willing to pay.
Im going to see if they'll match buymoparwarranty, if they won't, then Ill just get it online!
Thanks for the help!

I figured. I mean, options are options. Wife wanted the TnG with the Blacktop package and bucket seats. It was actually cheaper getting the SRT performance seats option (which automatically comes with captains chairs) versus the captains chair option. $1000 vs $1595.

Just wanted to see if anyone had experiences with getting a custom order under MSRP :sneaky:

Obviously depends on 'timing' and the dealer as well... But as others have mentioned, I negotiated before I ordered it and put $500 down at the time of order. I was able to get the incentives at time of order or time of delivery, whichever was better.

Others here got even better deals. At the time I was able to negotiate 'dealer invoice'... which I believe is just an arbitrary number below MSRP. There was even a price increase during my order that raised my MSRP but the dealer still honored our negotiated price. Below is a snippet of my sticker, 2022, I bought mine at $59,085 on the MSRP below.

Of course they are now 'bundling' items... I opted for a sunroof whereas now I think if wanted it is in a higher package. Blacktop, auto cruise, assisted braking were not a necessity for me so opted out on them.

I kind of feel some are missing on the order sheet that the order isn't for an R/T AWD (base price 57,270) with the TnG option, but that the "customer preferred package 22U" IS the R/T Premium package:
Quick Order Package 22U R/T Premium - $6,500
Engine: 5.7L V8 HEMI MDS VVT, Transmission: 8-Speed Automatic (8HP70), Suede Headliner, 7 & 4 Pin Wiring Harness, Integrated Roof Rail Crossbars, Power Driver/Passenger 4-Way Lumbar Adjust, LED Auxiliary Low Beam & Turn Signal, Auto Dim Exterior Driver Mirror, Dual Remote USB Port - Charge Only, Trailer Brake Control, Heated Second Row Seats, 825 Watt Amplifier, Black Roof Rails, Class IV Receiver Hitch, Blind Spot w/Trailer Detection, Floor Console w/Leather Armrest, Power 6x9 Multi-Function Foldaway Mirrors, Power Tilt & Telescopic Steering Column, Advanced Brake Assist, Exterior Mirrors w/Supplemental Signals, Power 8-Way Driver Memory 8-Way Passenger Seats, Premium Instrument Panel, Ventilated Front Seats, Full Speed Forward Collision Warning Plus, Bright Cargo Area Scuff Pads, 19 harman/kardon Amplified Speakers w/Subwoofer, 115V Auxiliary Power Outlet, Exterior Mirrors w/Memory, Adaptive Cruise Control w/Stop, Forged Carbon Fiber Interior Accents, Leather Wrapped Door Panels, Lane Departure Warning Plus, Radio/Driver Seat/Mirrors Memory
Coincidently, adds up to match the MSRP price of $63,770 for the R/T Premium AWD. So essentially that's the starting price before the destroyer grey, SRT seats, blacktop package, TnG package, and destination fees are added.

Reedie: Here's a reality to the options the vehicle has/Dodge offers and happens in car sales. You're charged as part of the R/T Premium package for seats, then get charged again for getting the SRT seats. You're also getting charged as part of the TnG package for 20-Inch x 10.0-Inch Hyper Black Aluminum Wheels, then also as part of the Blacktop package 20-Inch x 8.0-Inch Black Noise Aluminum Wheels (Unavailable with some configurations). The unavailable with some configurations applies because you'll be getting the 20x10 wheels with the TnG. So the fact is, some of the purchase money is lost with the purchase of overlapping packages.

I totally get what you're saying! On the RT, it comes standard with a bench 2nd row. Wife wants bucket seats for 2nd row. The bucket seat option was $1595. If I chose the SRT performance seat option, it comes with second row bucket for $1000 total. So there's a win there.
The wife wanted black rims, so adding the blacktop package on top of the TnG added 20x10 black rims. Unfortunately, Im paying twice for 20x10 rims, once in the TnG and again to get the rims black in the blacktop package.

@Reedie:
MSRP was the starting point for negotiations before C19 and all of its ugliness. As we all witnessed, there were labor shortages and supply chain issues as a result.

Nowadays, MSRP is what one HOPES to get down to or a least as close as possible when making their "best' deal.
The greedy auto dealers realized that businesses and other folks need vehicles to function, and they responded by saying, "You's needs, and we gots, so let me introduce you to our good friend Ben Dover!"

Even commercial vehicles on state contracts went through the roof. Police sedans that had been selling in the $20-$22k range were instantly $27-$29k. The full sized SUVs that were in the mid $30's were now in the low to mid $40's.

I overheard a conversation where a department was looking to obtain 2 Durango Pursuits, and they had been selling in the mid to high $30k range. A "dealer" who had 2 demo units told them "he had to have at least $50k" each!

I have never and probably will never buy a brand spanking new car. Being the first titled owner carries a hefty premium, as well as big depreciation the first 2 years of age.

Since you are relatively early in the 2024 model year, I don't think you'll have much negotiating room. Later in the year, Dodge will be offering incentives and dealers will be anxious to move cars off of their lots. Of course, since you ordered, the dealer won't have much "floor plan" invested in the vehicle. You can try beating them down to invoice price, but they may not like you trying to negotiate after the order is placed.

The "expert" negotiators you'll run into online will all tell you that you are getting screwed. They'll also base their opinions on vehicles they bought 2-3-4 years ago before Stellantis/FCA/Dodge jacked up the MSRP. Their stories about local dealers in their area may or may not help you. Develop a thick skin or just ignore them.

I bought my 2023 R/T TnG in August of last year. The vehicle had been on the lot since May. I got $4,750 in incentives, dealer knocked off $4,000 from the outset, and the dealer gave me about 10% more for my trade than it was worth. I was satisfied with the deal. Later in the year, all the dealers around me were discounting by 10% of the sticker price, but that may have been a national thing to get 2023s off of the lots. Oh, the sticker on mine was $70,125 including options and destination. I just "built" the same vehicle on Dodge's website--$72,850. Is a 2024 $2725 better than a 2023? Umm...probably not. But, it is what it is.

Most of all, start looking forward to enjoying your new ride!

Absolutely. I really appreciate your help!! I figured being so early in the production year, I wouldnt have much power on the price. I know Stellantis/FCA/Dodge incentives change every month. There wasnt anything in December/January except the first responder disount (which is available for all of 2024). I'm wondering what February looks like.
Thanks for your support!

All of the car buying experts tell you do this, but I wonder if it works. The dealers buy money from the banks by the bucketful. As a result, they get very favorable terms for that money. If I walk into a bank looking for a loan, I'm just one guy.

The dealer that I bought my DD from last summer is part of a network with 207 dealers across 17 states. They have much more clout with the banks than I do as an individual customer. Whether they pass along this "buying in bulk" savings along to their customer is a good question.

For the last two cars I bought, the F&I guy said "your credit is great, who do you want to borrow from?". Then he laid out several payment plans from different banks with what I felt were favorable rates. Could I have gotten a better deal by going to the bank directly? I don't know, but my gut says "no".

@Reedie I realize the market has changed significantly since 2021 when I ordered my DD TnG, but I will offer my experience at the time. I sat with the salesman on March 20, 2021 and built the DD with the options I wanted. I signed a purchase agreement with $1,000 down. MSRP at the time was $58,950 and the dealer was offering a $3,182 discount plus Dodge was offering a $2,950 cash back incentive. Soon before the DD was delivered, around the 4th week of April 2021, the finance manager called and explained that my employer was included in the affiliate program which resulted in another $2,500 in incentives plus if I financed through Chrysler Capital I would receive a $1,500 incentive, for a total of $4,000 in additional incentives. I could not believe the dealer was throwing more discounts my way, and was certainly pleased with the deal. All said and done, even before the DD was delivered I was looking at $10K+ in discounts and incentives, on top of the $12,000 trade in allowance (which was also included in the original purchase agreement). For comparison, the original purchase agreement at the time of the order was $43,600, and the final out the door price for my well equipped (in my eyes) DD TnG was $39,600.

My advice to you is that if you are happy with the deal, proceed by all means, or since you did not put anything down, and if it is not the deal you want, you could walk away and try to get a better deal from another dealer.

although a dollar is a dollar ect the impact is based on your financial situation. If price matters then it is always better to seek out the dealer offering the lowest price. My suggestion is to search out left over 23's...it may take some legwork and going out of state. If you really want to deal local, which I get then you will have to do some creative negotiating..

That’s going to be a beautiful vehicle!

As for pricing, at a min you can get 10% off MSRP as that’s what Stellantis is offering right now.

Chances are you can do even better though. Being in Texas, use this ad as bargaining power:

That’s a R/T premium with TnG but without the SRT seats and without rear entertainment for $61k.

FWIW, I got my 23 premium TnG for $62k.

Has worked for me many times... and I have been buying cars for over 30-years.

Wife has a credit union. Dodge finance manager had a higher rate, when we presented the paperwork of pre-approval, he matched it. It's always good to have options and be prepared.

Until this year , Mopar always offered 60 month no interest and I would take it. Leave my money in the bank making money.
One time I used Chase back in 2004 to get an auto loan for my SRT10 Ram cause no special financing from Dodge on it.
I got 1.5% for 5 years and they sent me a blank check good up until 50k.

Yeah I have had 0% from Ford in the past for the same 60-month.

Unfortunately, Dodge didn't have 0% at time of purchase and no special interest for repeat buyers like Ford does, but still got a great deal and super happy (so far) with the purchase.

On our last purchase I got the dealer's rate then asked Chase for their employee rate and my CU for a rate that ended up better than the two. The dealer matched my CU with their own loan from Chase.
