What's up Durango gang! Yesterday I placed an order for a 2021 R/T w/ the Tow n Go package. The lease is almost up on my 2018 R/T. Its been a great vehicle, no issues what so ever. We looked at the new Explorer ST as a replacement since it's very similar. The 2nd row has more room then the Durango by a lot. We have 2 small kids in car seats so that was attractive. It scooted along pretty good, felt pretty solid. But when Dodge announced the Tow n Go package, which basically makes it a SRT w/ the 5.7 Hemi, I knew that was what we were going after. Got to custom order all the stuff we wanted. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks! I'll definitely post pics when we get it [emoji106]

Glad to see this. Confirms my needs driving on the IKE with a 20’ airstream BCX @ 4300lbs. Nice gas mileage up, however, I’ll use paddle shifters down and feather break checks. Otherwise, if I was towing big time all time, I’m buying a truck. Drove our T&G home yesterday, wife loves it. Like the 2018 Rt, I find little out there that is a jack of all unibody 6 seater that can scat the gkids around, with little time spent at the gas station, and is not a truck frame step up. The T&G is a nice option that adds skills and enhances the personality and overall performance of the 5.7—now with a burble that makes everyone smile. Once I have more seat and foot time, I’ll post finer impressions. Until then, thanks to the guys here who’ve taken the time to post their first hand experiences 🙏👍 chapeau sirs.

started at 12 miles on the Odometer at the dealer with a full tank. Filled tank at 248 miles and put 14.505 gallons in. Just over 17 mpg even with “playing” with it a bit. Today had to drive over 125 miles and still have more than 3/4 tank. I realize it’ll suck a bit more out before the tank is empty, however it is promising.

@Don.b. we will look for you leaning into it on I-70 headed towards the tunnel one day!

Haha. With mtb/road bikes and summer camping, skiing winter and best friend in Dillon—we’ve made a rut in the road, as well over Loveland pass. Our 2018 Rt would cruise the Ike loaded down, at altitude, and with 3.09’s for that matter (btw not mentioned in the TFL vid towing Ike) —certainly the 21 T&G will crush it. Fwiw, I’ve tested a friends 2020 Explorer ST. Sure the turbo can crank it, and it’s a lot of fun. However, the RT’s cabin experience, stance, and utility had me sold into the T&G. Not much mileage yet. Good to read your pos+ on break-in. Cheers

That screaming Hemi while towing up a grade...ooof, I did that for 3 years and its miserable (wasn't a hemi, it was a Titan with nearly the same tow rating as the T&G). Again, I think the T&G is a cool package but buying it thinking its a proper 8,700# tow rig is foolish. The exhaust brake on modern diesel 3/4 - 1 ton trucks will maintain downhill speed without touching the brakes.

So I have my first official trip report. Drove our 2021 R/T TnG from our house outside of Brighton (NE of Denver by a few miles) to Ouray and back over the holiday.
Total round trip mileage, including a jaunt over to Telluride via Dallas Divide, was 798.3 miles.
Gas mileage via the instrument cluster was 22.0MPG.

We took HWY 285, which the family has always referred to as the "pretty route". Could be the views are spectacular, or could be that typically it is "pretty" slow, especially on the return to Denver. It is a 2 lane road mostly once out of the Denver metro, made up of winding mountain roads that traverse spectacular scenery as well as everything from wide valleys such as South Park to precipitous drops off the side like the west side of Monarch pass. There are several smaller passes along the route; Kenosha, Red Hill, Trout Creek and Cerro to name a few, and at least one that was able to give the DD a little challenge in the form of a 6.4% grade of Monarch Pass for just over 11 miles east to west, and just over 10 miles west to east. While some report Monarch to be 7%, officially the CDOT website lists it as 6.4%, and all of that is two lane with the exception of several double lane passing areas on both approaches. Granted, we weren't towing anything, but I know how these passes can get to be a PITA with traffic at various speeds regardless.

Thoughts--
Teenage kids (2x) like the captains chairs with the center console. Plenty of control and charging for phones and such.
Adaptive cruise was welcome during several sections of the drive. On rare occasion, it worked a little too well. But that was due probably to mountain driving and varied speeds of other motorists.
Lane assist was nice, but since this was mostly winding 2-lane roads, I didn't play with that as much.
The Durango kept speeds easily, even on the passes. Always more power available when needing to pass.
Around turns we were comfortable in the seats. Very little jostling.
Turning and accelerating on Monarch Pass felt sure footed. Never got the impression it would break-away, even considering sand and gravel still on the road for traction in inclement weather.
The emergency/parking brake lever is kinda in the way for stretching out during trips like this--I am 6'3". The E-brake and the very corner of the center console were just at the right place for either my left shin to conflict with (E-brake) or my right knee to bump the volume dial.
The Emergency Flasher button is way too easy to turn on while reaching into the area below it. Not even while driving, but picking up/putting down the phone on the wireless charging station bumped the flasher button on or off.
Plenty of room for our stuff.

Overall?
This was about as comfortable a drive as it has ever been for us. Best MPG for sure. Fun to play on the passes with the power and the 10" wide shoes. The ride was comfortable, quiet inside and warm. We had great weather, and the scenery was as always--amazing.

I’ll give a double thumbs up to this report 👍👍. We love the 285 drive, damn near perfect views (our Crested Butte travels). 👋

Hey everyone! 100% new here but not new to Dodge ;) Sooooooo I may be ordering a new DD TnG shortly.
This thread has been a wealth of info for someone in the process of sorting out the option packages, my dealership dismissed the TnG package, they literally had no idea what the options were in the listed package breakdown smh!
So did some homework and, uhm, I would have been extremely disappointed if I didn't do a little research on my own. Even after explaining the package to the wife she was 100% only interested in a TnG model.

So, thank you all, for all your valuable explanations and experiences, the detailed info, the pics and the videos! Looking forward to maybe being a new TnG owner and putting another Mopar back in the stable ;)

As Chase mentioned, I would be interested if you want to sell the stock tg wheels.....

Nice, looks like the bodywork handles 22's very well.
So are you selling the stock Tow-n-Go wheels? 'Cause I know a buyer on here. :ROFLMAO:
Oh yea... I’m standing by.....

Stumbled across this forum and thread and then a link to my video! Thanks for sharing it.

2 weeks in, the car is fantastic.

my wife went out with a friend last night, who was driving a ‘20 R/T and she told me this morning...”ours is so much louder, but I like it! That’s says a lot as she does not like my C5 corvette with a corsax pipe and cat back.

dodge hit a home run with the setup here. Sound is great. Suspension And driving dynamics is the bigger improvement if you ask me. The vitra gray is icing on the cake.

Ok so, question for maybe someone in Canada who has ordered. We just finished the finance portion and they said everything is good to go and they will be in touch regarding updates. That being said is there some sort of order number they will give us to track its progress?

Also, regarding the Lights Out wheels, when we ordered the salesman had no idea how to select these wheels, am I correct in that if we ordered TnG plus blacktop it will come with the Lights out wheels?

Thanks for any help guys pretty excited but very let down by the lack of knowledge at the dealer.

TNG + BlackTop= Lights Out wheels (Durango Hellcat style).

Mine took 8 weeks to the day.
Dealership can let you know when a VIN is generated and at various points along the way.
Honestly, if it were me (and it WAS HAHA) just start inquiring around the 6 week timeframe.
If you ordered a stripe package, forget EVERYTHING that I said- wait for Spring!

Thank you for the quick reply!

Phew...that eases my mind, we spent literally an hour with the salesman trying to explain the wheel differences and trying to figure out how to select the Lights out wheels smh.

8 weeks isnt bad at all! fingers crossed! I guess my only worry is when the dealership actually puts in the order, like I said I don't have much faith in them at this point. Hopefully they process it this week.

honestly I don't remember exactly but it was my son's truck so I added his then mine. It is there in the settings I think under profile(s). I just don't remember exactly, next time I take a ride Ill look again but it's definitely there. some of the setup is a little confusing at first thats for sure but most of it you can figure out just by playing around. I'm also on my 6th dodge lol so I'm kind of used to their menus lol
I called customer service. Apparently it only allows one profile right now and an update coming soon will add up to 5 profiles.

Did they say when the update for the DD will be pushed? Doesn't make sense we should have less than the most recent UConnect 5 capability. I also saw a video for pairing the DVD system remote on UConnect 5 that showed a newer remote than the one I got. Remote and headphones work, but the video seemed to indicate the rear seat screens were touchscreen which mine are not. So I wonder if the DD version of UConnect 5 is different than the rest of the fleet?

Even if Safelite does the windshield you will still need to return to the dealer to have the cameras on the front of the rear view mirror recalibrated and aimed for the self-leveling headlights and the front collision warning to work properly.
