What's up Durango gang! Yesterday I placed an order for a 2021 R/T w/ the Tow n Go package. The lease is almost up on my 2018 R/T. Its been a great vehicle, no issues what so ever. We looked at the new Explorer ST as a replacement since it's very similar. The 2nd row has more room then the Durango by a lot. We have 2 small kids in car seats so that was attractive. It scooted along pretty good, felt pretty solid. But when Dodge announced the Tow n Go package, which basically makes it a SRT w/ the 5.7 Hemi, I knew that was what we were going after. Got to custom order all the stuff we wanted. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks! I'll definitely post pics when we get it [emoji106]

Honestly, the first 2 months were easy. Then the delays due to whatever and COVID started to make it seem like it would never get here. Ironically, I just received the text that my R/T will be on a night drop at the dealer tonight and I can pick it up tomorrow midday. Trying to hold in my excitement, but my wife jumped for joy when I showed her the text since as she said "I know that is what you're doing inside, honey."

I might have to remove myself from this thread because the more I read and see how awesome the T&G is, especially the exhaust and wheels/brakes, the more I feel like mine is going to be naked lol..... the good news is that both of those items I guess can fixed after the fact lol.....

this sure does sound good in cabin... it's just right. now if he just stuck a go pro on the back bumper we'd be all set! dammit now.... I have to rip apart both of my r/t's to hope to accomplish this sound lol

Yes—outside of Skyboy666 taking the time for some vids, I do appreciate "yodavoice" for the starting few seconds of launch noise on his video (the remainder too painful to watch). With TFL boys doing a start-up and some sound under load, I've been wondering what my wife will think of the cabin sound level...especially pulling a trailer from a stop. I have been preparing her some...I'll find out her first reaction on Friday afternoon when we drive it home. Funny add tho, my broker got it off the lot when his dodge guy asked him to do so a day after it landed. The sales guy got tired of hearing "Can you start it up" from the folks unfamiliar with the T&G pipes off a 5.7 💪👍

I think T&G is a great looking package, but I wish the items were available individually. The wheel and brake package is really all I want, I much prefer my rear drive over AWD and I wouldn't tow much with it. Exhaust is totally subjective.

@Chase300 For the record, I agree a 3500 Cummins is overkill for 8700lbs, but the DDT&G is underkill for 8700lbs (IMHO). I bought the 3500 to tow our current 10,000lbs hauler and to future proof me for when we decide on a bigger outfit.

My wife said the exhaust wasn’t overwhelming when we drove it while the dealer worked on paperwork. She simply asked if it was enough for me. I think it’s perfect, cause I’m a bit of a gear head so I like to hear it but it’s quiet enough on the highway that it isn’t bothersome.
Several sales guys came by to congratulate us on it, saying it was not only cool sounding, but since F8 green isn’t common that it was a pretty bad ass color.
I had fun driving it home. Lights are extremely bright and focused, but inside the U5Connect screen is big, responsive and damn near flawless for connectivity. Simple, but has lots of features. That really came through being evident. Inside, the lights at night were very appropriately dim able, and the screen also followed suit. All to often there is so much light coming from screens and LEDs that it’s like trying to look closely after opening your eyes in a chlorine pool, only to have it feel blurred. This wasn’t so. Brakes, as mentioned were super responsive. The DD held the road in a sure footed way that was almost calming. While I was nervous for other drivers around since the ink was still wet, I am sure I will be comfortable with it soon enough. We are planning a trip for the family and I to drive from the Denver area to Ouray for Christmas which should be just enough miles to break it in. Ouray, for those who don’t know, was nicknamed the “Switzerland of America” and has a beautiful hot springs. What better way to break in the new DD by driving down for Christmas and taking a soak in the pool!!
I’ll try and do some more pics/video tomorrow.

@groucho — thanks for the review, a good read made interesting with your storyline. I’ll try and do the same next week after some miles. Coming from a fond relationship with a 2018 rt blacktop, all options save for dvd, I’m interested in the SRT bits and Ucon 5.0 on the 10.5 screen. You really helped with that first impression. I did note your black brembo’s. I did the same, not opting for the red with SRT badging. I’ll leave that distinction for my 6.4 and 6.2 blown friends. For my taste, I see too many red caliper covers on every performance brand, and wanting to stay “stock”, I like the black brembo badging with the blacktop package on my second white knuckle Durango. While I wanted your color, I compromised (for a second time) as my wife and four grandkids love the white—of course expecting me to keep it clean. Their happy, I’m happy. Enjoy your trip, I know your destination well. I’ll see you around the Denver area 👋

Absolutely! I was hoping I did the post justice for my thoughts. While we have been getting great sounding video of how it drives/sounds when driving, I didn't see too much about the UConnect. I am still amazed at the speed at which I can scroll, whther with the arows or just scrolling like a phone, up and down with my finger on the screen. Very happy with that.

As for the red/black brembo stuff--I am with you. The 392 and the red was not my cup of tea. Just my personal preference. YMMV.

Hope to see you around!

Ordered my r/t with tow n go last week. Was very hard to find tow/go in stock. Dealer found one 400 miles away but other dealer would not trade it. Confusing to me because I thought tow/go would be popular. Thought about switching to SRT since price was getting high anyway but insurance would cost more. Anyhow I was told 6 to 8 weeks so will be curious when your order comes in. Did black with red Brembo and red/black interior. Weird to put money down on a truck I have not driven - no hemi’s to be found for test.

This thread is a safe home for people in the "longest wait ever for a factory order vehicle" club. Mine was 131 days from when I placed the order until it was in my garage. JsR/T is in the sub-section of the club affectionately known as "prison". Our hearts go out to our club-mates who are waiting. I kid a bit, but those of us who know understand that the status of "storage" basically feels like prison for the vehicle--it is built and through inspection, but it is just sitting there for one reason or another. My prison sentence was 29 days. Built on 10/31, released from storage on 11/28.

Even though Dodge did do some marketing on the TnG, just in a seat-of-the-pants feeling the Hellcat was pushed waaay harder from a marketing perspective. Like JsR/T when I ordered the day the book opened up on August 6th the dealership team I worked with, while helpful, were not very knowledgeable on much surrounding the process for the TnG package. I knew of some of the options, but didn't have any spec sheet on the TnG package itself.

I am still taking a little time each drive figuring out what it is I got. UConnect5, exhaust, dash menus with things like 0-60 times where it says "BEST" and "LAST" in the display, adaptive cruise, wireless charging, etc. Tried using "SPORT" mode when getting on the highway once or twice, but waiting until about 300-400 miles are covered before I try "TRACK" mode. Good thing it is Christmas time. Otherwise I'd feel out of placing acting like a kid at Christmas, LOL.

@ Jlper--My vehicle prior to this was a 2001 Audi Allroad that I had swapped the factory 6 speed manual transmission into a couple years back. In November, my wife got that in an accident, and it was deemed a total loss. While I had done my best to maintain it as a great vehicle, I realize now how old it really was. You will love the R/T-TnG.

How is the exhaust when cruising on the highway? Is it still noticeable, is their much drone? I guess my real question is, does it get annoying?

#460 ·
ZERO drone at any time.
Quiet on the freeway cruising. Louder than my '17 RT but not appreciably.
Downshifts on the freeway are not too loud especially less than half throttle. Floor it...
loud as Hell (considering that this is a stock system).
I'd say the same savage sound and volume as my friend's (now sold DDSRT).
Hope this helps.

#462 ·
Same feedback as Durangogo. Very comfortable and low to no road/engine noise on the highway. No exhaust drone at all. If you want to hear it, just put your foot down and you will.
Very happy there. Just from a seat of the pants feeling—no regrets on the TnG even with cost.
Brakes 👍🏼 Exhaust 👍🏼 Tuned suspension 👍🏼 Overall👍🏼👍🏼

So we have yet to get pics of the exhaust and we still don’t know if it’s the Mopar performance exhaust or the srt exhaust ? If there is even a difference? Can someone go under there and post us a pic when they have time?

Ok. So I have no frame of reference to what other MOPAR exhausts look like to accurately say “oh, it’s this!” So take it with that in mind.
Everything looks like it’s at least 3” diameter pipe, and with the exception of what I quickly assumed was a big CAT about halfway, they are separately run. Mufflers look typical, but again, FNG to Dodge standard equipment. One of the two pipes just after the big CAT is partially flattened.

I tried to get pics of everything underneath from where headers come down to tail. Didn’t open hood to get upper pictures—wind is being a bitch here now and didn’t want to risk the hood folding over itself.

The crimp looks to have been on purpose and machine made—not something that happened on accident. Besides, the opposite side is not “damaged” beyond what you see in this photo showing the opposite side of the pipe, leading me to believe it was on purpose. It is a tuned exhaust, maybe one side needed a little more restriction? But who knows for sure, eh?.

Much better! The other angle was terrrible. Nice ride my man. Wishing you many miles of enjoyment.

well here's the Mopar exhaust.. its very different, no mid suitcase looks like it has 2 resonators of some sort up front, then to an X pipe back to 2 mufflers ... very different and it's hard to tell the diameter... I guess it could be 3", I didn't see specs. guess this is what I'll be trying to replicate LOL
