What's up Durango gang! Yesterday I placed an order for a 2021 R/T w/ the Tow n Go package. The lease is almost up on my 2018 R/T. Its been a great vehicle, no issues what so ever. We looked at the new Explorer ST as a replacement since it's very similar. The 2nd row has more room then the Durango by a lot. We have 2 small kids in car seats so that was attractive. It scooted along pretty good, felt pretty solid. But when Dodge announced the Tow n Go package, which basically makes it a SRT w/ the 5.7 Hemi, I knew that was what we were going after. Got to custom order all the stuff we wanted. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks! I'll definitely post pics when we get it [emoji106]

The thing is, for me at least, is what I don’t like about the SRT. Firstly it has to run premium and up here it’s about 20% higher than regular. Second the fuel mileage is going to be brutal, because you have 475 hp and your going to want to use it and hear it. The interior is really dated, and as well in Canada you only get a 3 year power train warranty. I am really trying hard not to like it, but after driving it, I did have fun.
One more thing which I am kind of curious about is insurance. I wonder what the difference would be from a SRT to RT? MSRP and HP being higher it’s going to be more but how much? Lastly, the one I drove had a CD player, and that swallowed up the armrest storage pretty significantly. I don’t even know where all my CD’s are anymore. 😏
So, I think I have talked myself out of it.....maybe.🤔

this is very true actually... I'm on my 5th one and although the new one looks really nice with a wider screen etc., I also worry about if it can better... or just more complicated. the current UC works very well and is very easy to use... that being said, having wireless charging and Carplay should be nice to remove wires... assuming it (the wireless carplay) works well.

I drove my buddy's DDSRT and I liked it a lot! Unfortunately he had his winter tire setup on so my experience was dulled down a bit...
The driving experience was fantastic, just not $10k better than my RT. That being said, I have a Challenger Hellcat for the summer months if I want a speed fix.
The fuel mileage of a daily driver is kind of important and yes, running 94 octane is very pricey up here! I've had to do a real self- assessment want vs need for commuting and summer road trips.
My Durango RT is fantastic, the 5.7 is strong and gets good fuel economy on 87, and runs even smoother/better with 94 octane blended in. When I'm flogging the RT, it sounds amazing but the handling is just a bit too sloppy/ponderous to continue the fun, if you know what I mean?
I think that the upgraded suspension of the Tow N Go should improve things in that repect...
2021 Tow N Go ordered.

Agreed on the fuel economy issue, for a daily that is one thirsty ride. But, in my case there was a huge delta between what I was getting the R/T for and what I could find SRT's for. But reduce even half of the price difference when I was shopping and I would have pulled the trigger on an SRT. What I saved on the purchase price would have taken 15 years (made up number, but it would have taken a long time) to make up in reduced operating costs. Man, I'm going to start looking for a left over SRT, maybe it will remove my desire for a Hellcat??

lol good stuff... coming from 4 scat packs I know what you mean... and I have a 21 rt coming but it's not an SRT nor does it have the tow n go so I'm worried it will NOT satisfy my need.... but it was a special deal through work that I couldn't turn down... hopefully its not terrible, the last time I got an SUV was in between scat 2 and 3, it was an audi sq5 and lasted exactly long enough (about 30 days) until I found my 19 f8 scat lol....
I can't imagine though on the SRT, how bad the fuel economy must be.... my scats averaged about 16 or so for the most part which is close to my original 15 DD R/T.... I daily them and use them for work so it does matter a little bit I guess
but again for the price of a new SRT DD, you can pretty much get into a charger cat so personally if I was going to spend 65k +/- I don't see how I would get the DD SRT unless you absolutely need the space that the charger or challenger can't give you... in my case I have my wifes suv for that and our son is driving now so space is a non issue.....

Interesting stuff, but comparing apples to oranges kinda.
Awd SUV that hauls 6 or 7 people and tows 8700 lbs vs 2 door coupe.

love it all... and yes I know it's comparing apples to oranges but I just my comments in as it was somewhat relevant in my case... guess at this point it doesn't matter as I have the 21 rt coming so I'll probably just take it and see how life goes... if I can't take it, I can always get out and get another scat lol

I found this on a Challenger forum, you can get the build sheet with the vin w/ this web address

Just replace the XXXX with the full vin all in caps. If you can pull up the build sheet it means its actually been built. I was able to get mine. Pretty cool, lot of info on it

You can do the same to get the window sticker w/ this

Same thing replace the XXXX w/ the full vin all in caps. Mine doesn't pull up yet though

Nice to read this useful thread, thank you all. I latched onto J'sR/T and Cooder's discussion along with others here, as I was scoping 2021 RT/Tow 'n Go info. I voted yesterday ;) — to order our 2021 RT Tow 'n Go in White Knuckle, Blacktop version. options: Tech group, Blindspot, 2nd row tumble, Sunroof, Black leath-Radar red, Cargo Plus, Premium Interior grp, Harm/Kard. It was an known build for us, as we're coming from an identical equipped 2018 RT (see below) save for T&G package. Carting four young gkids mtn bkng, skiing, RVng about the west, in a nible unibody, that as my granddaughter says has personality, made the vote for another RT term an easy one. Looking forward to reading more here, I share everyone's enthusiam. Cheers, Don.

Research that sound system. I believe it's the one that has generated tons of complaints on this forum already due to poor sound reproduction.

Thanks for the note TFH. I was aware and did some interweb search and first hand testing (a couple of 2019 Durango RT's, one on lot the other a bud's). For my wife and I, we are not audiophiles or crank anything (ha, Spinal Tap's "#11dial" just came to mind). We come from the 2018 RT's 510w Beats system (set as; bias fading a couple of clicks toward rear, EQ with Bass at zero, Mid to +4, HiFreq at +2). With that, our SiriusXm channels, Apple playlists & Podcasts were fine. Most importantly, the grandkids love it, even tossing their YouTube, Minecraft gaming over the speakers. Testing the 825w HK system, we found it (YMMV) sounded better, especially at hwy speeds, so we ordered. That said, from what I've read, you'd think Dodge would tweak and patch fix—made easier going forward over air with Uconnect 5. Regards, Don.

thanks for sharing... not sure what they mean with 'chi' enabled phone? LOL... simple question, will this charge an iphone without the adapter they mention? if not, it's worthless

#153 ·
Yea i LoL’d when i heard ‘chi’ as well but it’s Qi Enabled which is any iPhone 8 or X and newer or Galaxy S9 and newer. Still don’t understand why it’s taking so long for dodge to update the website. The 2021 MY are about to be in show rooms any day/week now. Meanwhile you can configure a new Bronco and that’s not coming till March/April i believe.

Well apparently the so called build and price tool on all FCA’s sites is more of a way to search for available stock with the options you build. Silly in my mind for those of us wanting to perhaps factory order one and see what it costs for the build of your choice.

Mine was ordered in late August too and there is a vin but I have no idea when it will arrive. It was ordered through work as part of a fleet order so I’m in the dark lol... I’ve never had to wait for a car and all 4 of my scat packs were bought and driven home same day so this is killing me here lol. Glad to hear that I will have wireless charging and car play though, as there is nothing worse than wires everywhere... it remains to be seen the quality though as my wired car play in the charger is better quality than blue tooth by a mile, for both music and phone calls.. guess it’s a worthwhile trade off..

Chrysler Capital is offering $750 on top of the $2950 incentive until the end of the month. They also show 0% for 36mos but I'm not sure which rebate you have to wave. If it's the $750 it's an easy choice. I've not seen any Tow N Go models hit KZ, hence why no window stickers have been generated. View attachment 112247
Looks like you get the $750 and $2950 if you take Chrysler Capital financing at their standard/non-incentivised rate

$750 only when you take the special rate

$2950 unless you take Chrysler special rate

$1250 for leasing through Chrysler, which is my plan. Unless the money factor or residual is not good.
