What's up Durango gang! Yesterday I placed an order for a 2021 R/T w/ the Tow n Go package. The lease is almost up on my 2018 R/T. Its been a great vehicle, no issues what so ever. We looked at the new Explorer ST as a replacement since it's very similar. The 2nd row has more room then the Durango by a lot. We have 2 small kids in car seats so that was attractive. It scooted along pretty good, felt pretty solid. But when Dodge announced the Tow n Go package, which basically makes it a SRT w/ the 5.7 Hemi, I knew that was what we were going after. Got to custom order all the stuff we wanted. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks! I'll definitely post pics when we get it [emoji106]

I thought I would post our experience in purchasing a DD. TL;DR: We have a VIN on a to be built RT TNG in Destroyer Grey, Blacktop and Vitra with blind spot and technology.

After lurking around here in Jan and Feb, we spent most of March looking for a Durango. It will be a tow vehicle, so we were specifically looking for first: Tow-N-Go first and second: Tow Group IV. We were having a really hard time finding any dealerships with the options we wanted and the dealers couldn't build anything with the blind spot monitoring. Chip shortages. If we did find blind spot at a dealership already, it wasn't Tow-N-Go. We test drove one Tow-N-Go and loved the drive of it. To our butts, it felt very different than an RT.

We were getting very close to settling for something that didn't meet our specs when we found a dealership that had a Durango on order with blind spot and they told us that it received a VIN, THAT DAY (btw, date ordered = Oct 8, 2020). We rushed over and asked if we could change a ton of specs on it (convert it to Tow-N-Go, change the color, interior to Vitra, etc.). They wanted a deposit to ask the plant if they could make the changes, so we obliged. It took two weeks to get confirmation, but we did end up getting confirmation that all of our changes were accepted! Lots of calling and checking, eventually the GM was the one who gave us the good news.

So, now we wait. The dealership asked the plant to prioritize the build (why wouldn't they prioritize a car that's already spoken for?). We're in Canada, so there is no way to track the progress of the build process other than through the dealership. So we'll be making frequent calls to ask for updates. My only concern is the actual availability of the chips and if a blind spot chip was "set aside" for our vehicle since day one.

We're super excited and we're really hoping that since it's "sold", it can be bumped sooner than the current May 24 build start date so we have a chance to tow with it this summer.

UPDATE: The dealership let us know before May 24 that the date was changed to June 8. It flip/flopped between June 8 & 9 every day when I asked for updates. Finally, status changed to G (Trim) on June 9 and then KZ on June 10. Yesterday (June 15) the dealership was updated that the ETA was June 14-18. It was picked up on a truck carrier yesterday at 5:22am and arrived today at our dealership near Toronto. Hopefully this insight helps others who are anxious about the delivery of your new DD.

We can't pick it up until next Tuesday, but I'll post pics when we get it.

So when was your order date and arrival date?
Order: March 29
Arrival: June 16

It's not that simple though because we bought a car the dealership had ordered in Oct 2020 and we modified a lot of the order AFTER it already had a VIN. It was the only way we could order a new DD with blind spot :)

I ordered my 21 tow and go, Destroyer Grey, red interior, Harmon, sunroof, Blacktop, blind spot. May 15th order date, got my vin a week later and it's been in D1 since... no ETA or anything. I chat twice a week with dodge and still nothing! My patience is killing me lol how long did you guys have to wait? Let me know start dates and delivery!

I just hit the 3000km on my DD TNG, and my front tire are at 9/32 and rear 7/32. Did a rotation and sure I was a little hard on the throttle at first because of the wonderfull exhaust sound.
But 2/32 difference on a AWD at 3000 km on the cluster, I am starting to wondering how the tire will hold on for the people that will tow with this.

Finally got our ‘21 TnG White knuckle blacktop!! pics sooon I promise!

Let me begin by saying I drive a ‘15 wrx sti as my daily, erm...maybe used to....because HOLY BAWLS this TnG setup is simply unreal, sport mode...that exhaust..WOW.

I will eventually say much more about it when I upload some pics and videos, I promise! However for now I’m curious if anyone has had liftgate alignment issues? Ours seems to be aligned on one side but a little too far in on one side. anyone see this yet?

anyways! other than the misaligned hatch this thing looks and drives absolutely amazing, our last DD was a ‘11 citadel, boy have these come so far in a decade.

Our 2018 citadel has slight misalignment on the lift gate. It’s smaller gap all down driver side and larger gap on pass side. It doesn’t run anywhere so I haven’t tried to change it or anything. I notice it. Not sure anyone else would, unless I told them.

Just read Dodge’s media postings:

Four-wheel disc antilock Brembo six-piston performance brakes with black calipers are standard on the R/T with Tow N Go; SRT-engineered Brembo brakes with red calipers and upgraded brake pads for improved performance are optional. The SRT Brembo brakes on the R/T Tow N Go feature a power four-wheel disc brake system with 15-inch vented and slotted front rotors with six-piston Brembo calipers and 13.8-inch vented rear rotors with four-piston fixed Brembo calipers.

A big "THANK YOU" to the members / contributors to this forum! It provided hours of good reading and helped me decide to buy a 2021 Durango R/T with the Tow & Go package. My wife's Honda Pilot took a **it after 80,000 miles (almost killed me while driving) and we narrowed the new vehicle search down to the Durango R/T vs Toyota 4 Runner. After driving both it was an easy decision. The 4 Runners were nice, but the higher towing capacity and overall driving experience led us to the Durango. We ordered March 14th and took delivery last Friday May 14th! The custom exhaust sounds amazing and I find myself starting it often just to hear the rumble. Here's the stats and out the door price for anyone looking in the Seattle area: Destroyer Grey, Tow & Go Package, Blacktop Package, Harmon Karmon Sound Updgrade, Cross Path Detection, and Black Leather Bucket Seats out the door for $57K. Thanks again! Here's a few pictures with one in the sun and two in the shade.

Congratulations on your new ride. That's nearly the same exterior specs we are getting. You have one of the quickest order-deliver timelines I've seen. We ordered a vehicle that was already Status D on March 29. We made some changes to the order, which may have set us back a bit, but we have confirmation on a June 8 start build date. So, we'll see when we actually get delivery.

It looks great! 👍

Placed my order on 6/1! Lets see how long it takes. I am in Florida. 2021 TnG in F8 Green, Black Leather option, Blind Spot, and Harmon/Kardon(although reading through here I may be regretting that option.). Kept it simple, itll be the wifes daily(she works from home so more like mommy mobile) and my Tow rig whenever my Extended Cab Cummins is maxed out passenger wise lol. Cant wait!

Good on ya! Very exciting. For me, since our 12-15-21 delivery of the 21 T&G, my wife and I enjoy it. More importantly, the 2, 7, 8, and 10 y/o grandkids give a "thumbs-up" to the "H/K" sound over that of the "Beats Audio" that we all experienced in our 2018 RT. Seriously, with the range of music interests fire-hosed through the HK system from ApplePlay, SiriusXM, multiple connected kid devices, the H/K has been worth it. However, while I optioned everything on the 21 T&G save for blu-ray headrests, my "value" concepts are my own. I never tell (except for immediate family 😂) what to get and how much to spend. Here's to a quality product delivered to you and wife as quick as possible. Cheers.

Thank you! Good to hear others enjoying the HK system. I heard it in my brothers Hellcat Challenger and was blown away so thought I was getting that, but apparently it’s a completely different system so I guess I’ll see. Worse case I change the sub I guess no biggie.

Mine was ordered 5/14. Had VIN the next day. TNG, Blacktop, Blindspot, Technology, Sunroof, Red Brembos, and HK. Still no record of it being built and in D status.

I really like those tinted taillights. How does it affect the visibility of them? Do you have any pics of them illuminated? Maybe after dark?

I had a Trailblazer SS that I tinted the taillights on but I went really dark on them. This looks like a good compromise between appearance and performance.

Just checked mine, I check once a week! Aaaaaand same thing lol. Waiting on parts to then have a build eta. I told the chat lady you guys telling people 6-8weeks for builds..and she was like yes it takes 6-8weeks from build start till delivery…but from order to build start is just an open loop I imagine

I just chatted in as my order is almost 2 months old. They told me the latest update is my order is to be built this month. However, when I use the link and enter my VIN it doesn't pull up any records. Wondering if they are giving me a canned answer or if they really can see that it is coming up on being built.

Yeah I pretty much figured with a ship date of 7/24, it would be built the week’ish prior.
