What's up Durango gang! Yesterday I placed an order for a 2021 R/T w/ the Tow n Go package. The lease is almost up on my 2018 R/T. Its been a great vehicle, no issues what so ever. We looked at the new Explorer ST as a replacement since it's very similar. The 2nd row has more room then the Durango by a lot. We have 2 small kids in car seats so that was attractive. It scooted along pretty good, felt pretty solid. But when Dodge announced the Tow n Go package, which basically makes it a SRT w/ the 5.7 Hemi, I knew that was what we were going after. Got to custom order all the stuff we wanted. Its gonna be a long 8 weeks! I'll definitely post pics when we get it
I posted [some of this] this in another "just ordered a Tow ~n~ Go" thread, but since you had an identical scenario, figured I'd post it again here.
We own a '18 RT AWD, Redline/Blacktop + Black, Cap chairs, Tow, etc., we've enjoyed the heck out our DD, it's made trips to the keys, hauled Xmas trees, gotten us out of hurricanes, and just been a terrific vehicle.
Our lease comes up this April, so I've been knocking around ideas for the next family ride, sticking with a mid-sized SUV, kind of thought about maybe stepping up to the SRT, also considering an Explorer ST, love the looks, performance, it would be a change (vs. two DDs back-to-back)
Several things (outside the larger Hemi) that make me jones for the SRT, the adaptive suspension, drive modes, fenders/wheel/tire package, the big brakes, so I was totally blown away by this new T~n~G option - and the 2021 changes with the new interior, the larger 10.1" Infotainment display, just makes everything that much better.
I configured an RT/TnG and a matching SRT, the RT is ~$10K cheaper. That's both with Blacktop, Cap Chairs, Safety/Electronics package, HK audio upgrade, red calipers, Towing (option selected where it's not part of another package/group/standard). 115HP additional OEM HP is pretty swell, but unless I'm missing something, these are pretty much the same otherwise (I think the SRT might have the equivalent of the $795 upgraded interior option in the RT).
If the RT/TnG lacked something vs. the SRT, like the suspension, or tow capability or brakes, that $10K would be more "worth" it, if the difference was like $4500, I'd probably opt for the SRT, that $10K is tricky, it's enough to be notable, but not insanely more like a non-TnG RT with a hefty discount vs. an SRT.
I'm kind of thinking of maybe selling the GT, making my car the new DD, in that case I might spend more and go SRT, but that TnG package is just nuts what you get for the ~$5K.
